#Libya π±πΎ: after weeks of heavy fighting #GNA forces have captured Watiyah airbase.
This is the biggest victory for the GNA ever since the #Tripoli offensive started a year ago, with the capture of the airbase they have cleared the entire western flank of #LNA forces
#Libya π±πΎ: spoils captured at Watiyah airbase include a Russian-made Pantsir anti-air system.
Crystal clear indication of Russian involvement on the #LNA side
The biggest winner of today is arguably Turkey who will now (through it's GNA allies) be able to set up a permanent base in Watiyah, solidifying its presence in the Maghreb region
It will be important to watch how the #GNA will no approach towns like Zintan and al-Rujban, south of Watiyah. Although these towns hold pro-#LNA sentiments they largely stayed out of the fighting.
Most likely the GNA will try to pull them out of the LNA camp through diplomacy

#Libya π±πΎ: #GNA fighters have entered the pro-#LNA towns of Badr and Tiji without a fight this morning.
Meanwhile the LNA had announced a withdrawal from the #Tripoli frontlines, fall of Watiyah has made the situation unsustainable
#Libya π±πΎ: pro-#LNA fighters have set fire to the municipality building in the town of al-Asabiah (S of Gharyan) after the local council reportedly switched sides to the #GNA
#Libya π±πΎ: pro-#GNA sources report the destruction of 3 Russian-made Pantsir systems at the hands of Turkish droned around #LNA-held Tarhuna
#Libya π±πΎ: #GNA fighters have seized control of the town of al-Asabiah. dealing another blow to the #LNA camp while further isolating #Zintan and al-Rujban
#Libya π±πΎ: #Haftar's airforce chief is threatening with the βlargest aerial campaign in Libyan historyβ as RUAF warplanes are reportedly moved from #Syria to #LNA bases in LY.
#Libya π±πΎ: #GNA fighters in al-Asabiah following the retreat of (pro)#LNA forces.
Next target is reported to be the town of Mizdah, located alongside the last LNA supply line to #Tripoli
#Libya π±πΎ: footage by @libyaalahrartv shows the moment #GNA fighters advance into the town of al-Asabiah
#Libya π±πΎ: In areas under #GNA control insecurity and lawlessness remain widespread. Wisal Abdul Hafeez Muhamed Abdul-Hadi, was kidnapped from her #Tripoli home two days ago when gunmen robbed the house en.alwasat.ly/news/libya/283β¦
#Libya π±πΎ: #GNA fighter have captured the Qudhama gate, located on the road to Mizdah, south of al-Asabiah
#Libya π±πΎ: at the end of tjr afternoon #GNA fighters reached the northern entrance to Mizdah, once this town falls #LNA forces in #Tripoli are basically cut off
#Libya π±πΎ: the local council of al-Urban (east of #Gharyan) has agreed to surrender to the #GNA without a fight as pro-GNA fighter continue to advance on #LNA forces across the region
#Libya π±πΎ: #LNA lines in #Tripoli continue to collapse as #GNA fighters have seized the Tkbali camp in the Ain Zara suburb.
LNA forces are reported to be pulling out of Tripoli to set up a defense in the town of Tarhuna which is facing GNA attacks on it's own
#Libya π±πΎ: as this map by @W_Lacher illustrates, Tarhuna fighters make up a large part of the #LNA fighting force in #Tripoli.
You can be sure that once their own town is under threat they will pull out of the Tripoli
When talking about conflicts like Libya, but also Syria and Yemen we're always inclined to talk about the international geopolitical dimension, but local dynamics can be just as decisive in the outcome of a battle
#Libya π±πΎ: #GNA forces have dealt a final blow to the #LNA's hold in southern #Tripoli by capturing the Yarmouk camp, putting an end to months of indiscriminate shelling on the capital.
#Haftar's Tripoli campaign has ended in utter failure
#Libya π±πΎ: #GNA fighters also took control of the Hamza military base in the #Tripoli suburbs. Swift advances on LNA forces are still slowed down somewhat by the large number of explosives left behind in the area
#Libya π±πΎ: #LNA forces managed to recapture the town of Mizdah, south of the Nafusa mountains, being greeted by happy locals.
The flat desert terrain, local support and air support gives LNA forces the advantage in this area
#Libya π±πΎ: #LNA forces are still in control of #Tripoli international airport and the adjacent town of Qasr Bin Ghashir. #GNA fighters are expected to move on these positions next
#Libya π±πΎ: southern #Tripoli suburbs are riddled with explosives, left behind by #LNA forces to slow the #GNA's advances.
Clearing the area will take weeks if not months, meaning displaced residents will have to wait before they can return
#Libya π±πΎ: #GNA fighters were forced to pull out of the Yarmouk camp in southern #Tripoli after heavy #LNA shelling on the area
#Libya π±πΎ: Russian Wagner soldiers were spotted on the road in Bani Walid today, reportedly pulling out of the #Tripoli front

I've just come back from #Venezuela π»πͺ where I spent 2.5 weeks, witnessing the run-up to the presidential vote, and what was arguably the most outrageous election steal in the modern history of Latin America.
I'll share some thoughts below π§΅
First off before going into the political situation I just wanted to stress how great it was to be reminded how easy it is to fall in love with Caracas, and how amazing the Venezuelan people are.
Someone I'd met briefly 7 years ago, would greet me again as if we were family.
I was never big about celebrating my birthday, so I figured I'll just arrive in Venezuela that day, do some work and let the day pass quietly, no big deal.
Well that wouldn't fly when I told my Venezuelan friends there. They insisted on celebrating, and even brought friends.
I just came back a trip around the resistance territories of southern Karenni state (Myanmar).
During my time I went to the frontlines, visited IDP camps in the jungles, stayed the night at an abandoned junta base, met resistance fighters, refugees and community leaders.
π§΅:
Karenni state (also known as Kayah state) as around the size of Qatar, which makes it the smallest of Myanmar's different states and regions.
Yet because of its proximity to the capital Naypyidaw (120 km) it is still a very strategic region.
After three years of anti-coup resistance and armed struggle around 90% of Karenni is under resistance control.
Karenni is divided into 7 townships: Loikaw (capital), Demoso, Hpruso, Bawlakhe, Hpasawng, Shadaw, Mese.
Seriously watch the original IDF video (re-uploaded minutes ago). At 1:48 the IDF spokesman literally said they found a single gun "just minutes ago", same room as where @TreyYingst walks through in his report. Yet Trey's report shows two extra guns placed in the exact spot
Although it doesn't disprove that the guns are from Hamas or that there are any guns in the hospital. It is a very clear sign that the IDF is moving guns around the hospital and places them in suspicious locations.
This puts everything they show about the hospital into question.
#Palestine π΅πΈ BREAKING: AJE reports that Israeli forces have informed the staff of al-Shifa that they will storm the #Gaza hospital tonight.
#Palestine π΅πΈ: multiple reports now that Israeli forces are INSIDE al-Shifa hospital in #Gaza city and are "carrying out operations" within the facility.
#Palestine π΅πΈ: the #IDF has released footage of their troops supposedly dropping off medical supplies at al-Shifa hospital.
But everything that's important is missing here. Where are the patients? Where are they alleged #Hamas tunnels?
The dry season is starting in #Myanmar π²π². The drier weather and more accessible roads will mean an intensification of fighting between the junta and resistance across the country.
#Myanmar π²π²: junta warplanes have repeatedly targeted the village of Nyaung Kone in the Mogok Township (#Mandalay region) as fighting between junta forces and #TNLA & #PDF resistance groups is ongoing in the region.
#Myanmar π²π²: junta forces clashed with local #PDF resistance in the Tabayin Township of #Sagaing region, after the soldiers ventured out into the countryside and tried to enter a resistance-controlled village.
