Gau Mutra as medicine in Chozha inscriptions!

A Chozha Temple dedicated to Vishnu @ Pazhaya Seevaram near Kanchipuram, also functioned as a hospital with facilities to treat 15 inpatients.

An inscription lists out 20 medicines that were used to treat ailments, One is Gau Mutra.
The hospital, according to a 11th Century CE, ViraRajendra Chozha inscription, had a physician, surgeon & barber.

Grants were given by ViraRajendra to celebrate Jenmashtami!

Interesting to note that Jenmashtami was celebrated in TN in 11th century itself.
Temple also had a Veda Patashala where the hostel students were given oil on every Saturdays to take oil bath.

Tradition of taking oil baths on Saturdays is still being followed in TN.
Also grants were given by Vira Rajendra for Nammazhwar's Thiruvaimozhi recitation.
