Started auspicious Vijaya Dasami day with Darshan of Supreme Mother Goddess Arulmigu Mariamman, Samayapuram. The main idol is made of Sand & Clay. As per Wikipedia this is the second most richest temple in TN after Palani.
Our next stop is Tiruvanaikaval, had darshan of Arulmigu Jambukeswarar and Arulmigu Akhilandeshwari. This is one of the the Pancha Bhoota Lingam and it represents water. With this we have seen all the 5. There was an massive golu in the temple.

Back in #Srirangam, today is the annual Jyeshta Abhishekam for Lord Ranganatha! Once a year, the Moola Sthanam gets a traditional purification in one of the most ancient methods. Will try to do a thread if possible!

It is a day long affair! The process of which would have begun few weeks ago! First they prepare the Thailam. But more about that later. As for today, early morning the temple elephant goes to take a dip in the Kaveri, as usual. No Vishwaroopam darshanam today.
The Sthalathars, Sthanikars, Maniyakarars of the temple recieve a special Mariyadhai first. They carry special pots to the Kaveri. 28 silver pots and one gold pot. A long procession goes from the temple to the Amma Mandapam. With the Nagaswaram and Thavil Melam.

The dreaded Chniese Vrius had attacked just before the Panguni Utsavams last time. And for two years, everything was conducted within the temple premises. The residents of Srirangam have been eagerly waiting for two years now!

Now we have lost 1000s of bronzes out of #HRCE's utter carelessness, and in many cases HRCE officials themselves have played a role in destroying our cultural identities.
We have over 35,000 inscriptions discovered in TN temples, which, comparatively, more in numbers many a times than what have been discovered so far in the rest of India combined, its a huge treasure, but we are losing all of them gradually to sand and water blasting methods.
