With helplines reporting a surge in calls,the codeword scheme aims to offer an escape route for victims during shopping trips for food & medicine, which may be one of their few chances to leave their homes.

Similar projects have been launched e.g. Spain, Italy, France, Argentina
Earlier this month Boots pharmacies across the #UK began offering safe spaces to domestic abuse victims. theguardian.com/business/2020/… #COVID19
There have been calls for safe space initiatives to be introduced in supermarkets and more pharmacies for victims who are now unable to seek help while at home trapped with their abusers and who are still expected to shop for food and medicine. #COVID19 #UK

No wonder that a TV episode was pulled off the air - in the ostensible democracy #Australia in 2019 - after I asked “How long must we wait for men and boys to stop murdering us, to stop beating us and to stop raping us? How many rapists must we kill?"

The minister for communications issued a statement. White Australian men went hysterical. I was accused of “inciting violence” and told “violence begets violence.” The episode was banned & no one wants to answer what centuries of male violence beget.
