A thread on how to ARCHIVE websites, VERY helpful for: 1. You don't want to give any traffic/income to a clickbait site like PenisNews. 2. You want to share a site with your international friends, not all sites allow that. 3. You want to find a copy of a paywalled article. 1/?

First, there are 2 main archive sites that I know of. Let's start with archive.is. Here you can easily paste the url into the search box to find out if an article has already been archived & if not, make a copy of it quickly. (The other is web.archive[dot]org.) 2/?

So here we want to search for a recent article from PenisNews on a lesbian who claims she escaped from a cult of gender critical feminists. 😱 If you have the link, put it in the search box. It's been saved multiple times. Use the ARCHIVED link when sharing it, not PenisNews. 3/

You can also search the archives for saved snapshots using various queries. That avoids ever opening the original PenisNews link. They give some helpful search hints on the site. You can also search for all archives from a site, add keywords etc similar to google search box. 4/

Let's look for paywalled articles. I'm always looking for The Times UK articles. IF someone has a SHARETOKEN copy they should archive it for us poor people. But you can still search for them. Only the ones that have 'sharetoken' in the url will have the full article. 5/
