These two photo illustrate what is fundamentally wrong with British & other western societies. Instead of living in communities, as nature/evolution intended, we live in individual households. Big & multiple properties for the rich, smaller, single properties for the not so rich. 
The mansion (in Valentines Park) is no longer in private ownership, but illustrates the point I want to make. This state of affairs is so normal that we all take it for granted, failing to recognise just how perverse it is. It is why our civilisation is inherently unsustainable.
The state, perverts & corrupts evolved human nature by facilitating the abuse of power (not least in its most versatile form of money), while the academics assumed to be authorities on understanding society & the state are blinded by their own dependency on the state.
