Also Google mobility.

Read the whole thread. (English).

Fig 1a-c. Number of persons in intensive and hospital care per day, and need for care. 1/x
Fig 2a-c. Number of deaths per day (moving average) and cumulative mortality. 2/x
Fig 3a-c. Geographical differences within Finland: Nr of persons in care/day and nr daily verified diagnoses by the five “specialised medical care regions”. Might be of interest to other countries to understand the spread btw the capital area (Helsinki) vs rest. 3/x
In Finland, the number of verified diagnoses declines now very rapidly in the capital area (nr of tests stable/increasing).
At most, there were 83 persons in intensive care in Finland on 7th of April; now yesterday only 19.

4/x
Also in other countries the decline continues. In Sweden, a total of 558 persons was in intensive care unit in 25th of April; yesterday 336 persons. So the decline has been ongoing quite some time, considering the delay from infections to intensive care. 5/x
Geographical differences in Sweden important; my favorite indicator is the “new persons in intensive”; still declining in total, and stable in most places in Sweden: 6/x

Extra 1: Google mobility data 1; changes in percent from baseline (see footnote for explanation) in Retain/recreation; Grocery/Pharmacies; Parks. 7/x
Extra 2: Google mobility data 2; changes in percent from baseline (see footnote for explanation) in Workplaces; Residential; Transit. 8/x
Confirms decline in retail/recreation; workplaces, transit and also groceries; more time at home; parks. One can spot the differences for winter-holidays in different areas from workplaces (weeks 8 and 9 differ). Sweden is surprisingly similar to the other countries in these. 9/x
Interesting article on Japan’s strategy focusing on 3C’s: “closed spaces, crowded spaces and close-contact settings” instead of lockdowns and mass-testing: 10/x

To be clear: I work at THL but my work not related to corona (dementia/diabetes); everything here my own opinions.

All data here from public sources; also the Finnish data.

I’m not an expert on infectious disease epidemiology. 11/11
