Special Memorial Day #DavesCarIDService today to honor those who sacrificed all for our country, and others who served. First up: my great uncle Frank Stebner with his brother Bill on the running board of a 1940 Chevy coupe. 2 months later he would die on the USS Ingraham.
Great Aunt Laura and the unidentified doughboys are on a circa 1917 Ford Model T truck, the cowl modified presumably to deflect gunfire and shrapnel.
Another great uncle, this one leaning on a 1951 Ford Tudor.
Dad here is standing alongside a 1942 Willys Americar, later a very popular body used in drag racing's gasser class. Behind it is a 1938 Pontiac. My dad too spent a bit of time at Ft Lewis, going to Korea and back.
The car behind Sgt. Carpenter is a 1942 Ford Tudor.

quick note: the last 2 tweets have featured 1942 model year cars, which might surprise some. All civilian automobile production in the US was shut down after Dec 7 1941, but production of the 1942 models had started in September 1941.
another quick note: I always thank you to keep your politics out of my car ID threads, and I *especially* thank you to do so today.
The motorcycle has been a bear to ID, and I may need an assist. Best I can tell, a 1955ish Maico or DKW but not at all sure. Behind dad L-R, a 1951-53 Kaiser, VW Bug, Porsche 356, 1950-52 Buick, and a Kaiser M35A2 troop carrier.
Kudos to the GI who bought that 356 Porsche, today worth an order of magnitude more than any other vehicle in the photo.
A stylish 1941 Buick Roadmaster convertible for this GI.
Your dad is alongside a 1941 Chrysler.
I'm pretty sure an early 50s Willys M38 Jeep, but I will defer to those who can provide a more specific ID.
Not a Chevy behind your dad and his buddies, but in fact the distinct tailfins and taillights of a 1958 DeSoto Firedome.
Tough call here, but I think Dad enjoyed peacetime in a 1937-38 Buick sedan. Sadly I can't help you ID the aircraft on left but I hope other can assist.
Your great uncle had himself a mighty fine automobile, a 1940 Cadillac Series 62 convertible.
Hats off for LTC McCloud. This Marine who gave his all had what I am fairly certain is a 1959 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible. Thank you to @shahan for tagging this photo.
These two Marines came home to a 1941 Plymouth coupe.
I have a few things to attend to today, but will keep the thread open if you want to request a car ID relating to a member of the military services, especially the fallen. Please remember to use the #DavesCarIDService tag, and I'll do my best to help out.
Dad's roadbird was a 1952 Mercury Monterey.
A bit of a challenge here, but I believe this Marine is with a 1941 DeSoto Custom convertible, wearing what I think are aftermarket fender skirts.
A 1938 Cadillac Series 75 limousine, the very same car that crashed with Patton in it soon after WW2 had ended. Patton would die 2 weeks later as the result of the crash; the car however was restored, and is in the Patton Museum, Ft Knox KY.
That's it for today's thread, and thank you to all who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
