GHEERAH (Protective Jealousy)

It is part of the Fitrah (natural disposition) which Allaah Has created us on, to have protective jealousy over our wives. The Prophet (SAW) regarded someone who doesn't have such as DAYYOOTH & such person will never enter Jannah (paradise).
This is just as modesty & chastity are part of our natural disposition & when they leave one completely, faith leaves him or her. While a Dayyooth won't enter Jannah, a person devoid of chastity & modesty is devoid of Eemaan.
Let us learn a little from the life of Asmau Bnt Abubakar’ (Allah be pleased with her) the daughter of Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq (Allah be pleased with him) & sister of Aisha (Allah be pleased with her). Asmau relates this Hadith about herself.
Abu Bakr (Radi-Allahu Anhu) was a wealthy merchant & he married his daughter Asmaa’ to Az-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwam (Radi-Allahu Anhu). Zubayr was a great companion of the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam), one of those promised Jannah while they were alive & a man of PIETY.
Asmaa’ said:

“When az-Zubayr married me, he had neither land nor wealth nor slave…”, so Asmaa’ had to work very hard kneading dough (using flour), going far off to get water. “And I used to carry the water on my head,”

She continues:
“the date stones from the land of az-Zubair which the Prophet (ﷺ) had given him, a land was a distance of two miles from the city of Madeenah. So, one day, as I was carrying the date-stones upon my head, I happened to meet the Prophet (ﷺ), along with a group of his Companions.
He called me & asked a camel to sit down so that he could make me ride. I felt shy to go with men & I remembered Zubair & his Gheerah, because he was a man having the most Gheerah.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) understood my shyness and left.
Asmaa' continues:

I came to Zubair and said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) met me as I was carrying date-stones upon my head and there was with him a group of his Companions. He told the camel to kneel so that I could mount it, but I felt shy and I remembered your Gheerah.”
So Asmaa’ declined the offer made by the Prophet (ﷺ). Upon this az-Zubair said:

“By Allah, the thought of you carrying date-stones upon your head is more severe a burden on me than you riding with him.”

(Related by Imam Bukhari in Saheeh Al-Bukhari).
This is how far the wives of the earlier generations of the Muslims can go in protecting their chastity & protecting the Gheerah of their husband. Compare this, & an instance of someone recording his wife in a private dressing & posting it to the world to see. What type of
Islaam are we practicing? Certainly not the type practiced by our noble Prophet & his companions.

Allah says, "And if they (the rest of the Muslims that will come after you) believe in & with what you believe, they have indeed been guided...".
I heard that the whole dance challenge was an evil whisper of someone on Instagram, & she didn't post her own & her husband's, but led others astray by encouraging them to do. These type of women should not be your role models. Women like Asmaa Bnt Abubakar (RA) should be.
See the deep sense of dignity & modesty Asmaa' showed. She knew that the Prophet (SAW) had the purest of all hearts, but because she didn't want to offend the Gheerah of her husband, she refused to accept a lift given to her by the Prophet (SAW) in the presence of other men.
More beautiful is, despite his intense Gheerah, Zubayr (RA) said, he'd rather manage his Gheerah than see his wife suffer, so she should have taken the ride instead of trekking with loads on her head.

Subhaanallah! That's the beauty of Islam. When we abandon our rich Islamic
cultures & pick other people's cultures, everything will leave us & we will be left with calamities & failures.

May Allaah guide us aright.

Do not do things because they're trending, do them if they please Allaah. Don't be afraid to be different. Stick to your moral values.
