Mistyping emails is so much more common than you might think. If you're unlucky, someone mistypes their email, pays, and then locks themselves out -- more work for you.
2/ It raises the bar for spammers. Requiring a verified email address stops a lot of automated spam crawlers.
1. You can't attach your domain with SubStack. They've chosen to insert themselves between creators and their audience/content in a way that is both unnecessary and has the potential to ruin livelihoods down the line.
2. So all that domain authority you've been building is useless for you.
They own that too because they purposefully don't let you have your own domain.

2. Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow. Early on, Wikipedia had a lot of trouble with inaccuracy/plagiarizing. He could have spent $$$ to hire moderators and fix this. But his solution? Just grow the community and let them find the inaccuracies.
