How to Write Great Microcopy (40 pro-tips) by @antdke

1/40
1/
Be clear, concise, and useful

Duh. This one’s obvious.
People don’t like being forced to read. Identify the most important info and say that.
2/
Use consistent wording

Another obvious one —don’t use synonyms.

If one button says “Next”, don’t also use “Proceed” or "Continue” for other buttons.

Inconsistency confuses users. They may think “Next” and “Proceed” lead to different results.

Thread: Best Sales Advice You Will Ever Read

🧵🧵
1/
Sales is a lot like golf. You can make it so complicated as to be impossible or you can simply walk up and hit the ball. I've been leading and building sales organizations for almost 20 years and my advice is to walk up and hit the ball.
2/
Sales are about people and it's about problem-solving. It is not about solutions or technology or chemicals or lines of code or artichokes. It's about people and it's about solving problems.

5 reasons why you should verify the user's email @IndieHackers

Thread 🧵
1/
Mistyping emails is so much more common than you might think. If you're unlucky, someone mistypes their email, pays, and then locks themselves out -- more work for you.
2/
It raises the bar for spammers. Requiring a verified email address stops a lot of automated spam crawlers.

8 reasons why you should not use @SubstackInc

👇Thread
1. You can't attach your domain with SubStack. They've chosen to insert themselves between creators and their audience/content in a way that is both unnecessary and has the potential to ruin livelihoods down the line.
2. So all that domain authority you've been building is useless for you.

They own that too because they purposefully don't let you have your own domain.

3 learnings from Jimmy Wales building an Internet giant (Wikipedia)

Thread 👇👇👇
1. Your product is an opportunity to build something amazing - not just your wealth.
2. Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow. Early on, Wikipedia had a lot of trouble with inaccuracy/plagiarizing. He could have spent $$$ to hire moderators and fix this. But his solution? Just grow the community and let them find the inaccuracies.
