There’s something to be said about strategy in #Atlanta. Buckhead is not the most welcoming place sometimes; many business owners are racist, && welp.

I cannot wait to read about last night in a book. I hope some of you who were there are journaling! Just don’t post online.
Speaking of— y’all need to start going low tech before these protests. Leave your cell phones at HOME! Geo location tagging, social media, etc. leave digital footprints.

Use a flip phone— they sell them at Walmart. I’m dead serious too. Ask me how I know?

#AtlantaProtest
I have not participated in a boots on the ground protest since @YesAurielle was kidnapped by Atlanta police.

That, plus folks from #ItsBiggerThanU / Young #Atlanta activist disappearing along w/ folks in #Ferguson, sent me behind the scenes to use other skills.
Because part of what I learned from folks like @YesAurielle & @MaryPatHector etc. When stuff initially started in Atlanta several years ago, is the importance of coordination. You need both insurrections and slow singing, a fire this time and the cries from last, simultaneously—
Not for white people, though. For us. Because everyone has a role! Some people bear witness. Some people document. Some organize. Some return the favor of terrorizing. And they’re all justifiably righteous [indignation] 🙃.

Being cornered by the police for this changes you.
Read that last sentence again.

Some of us have been engaging in white supremacist subterfuge forever. And still are. 🤧

It’s just a shame when some of y’all do it so long you forget white supremacy exists because you’re at the top.
Anyway, #Atlanta is my home and I want the best for her as a city. But burned out buildings & broken down stores can be replaced—People cannot.

I will never want so much for Atlanta that I put white supremacy & places above us. Atlanta is Atlanta because of us— not stuff!
And STILL: #ItsBiggerThanU / #ItsBiggerThanYou!

P.S. It’s amazing how many Black women are on the front lines in this (throwback) photo. It’s already in a museum in Atlanta, so I’m not outing anyone.

But I’ve divested, so. Bail funds and writing are my *weapens* these days.
