Yesterday the WNBA came out with a logo that read “Bigger Than Ball.” Now YouTube is supporting “efforts to address social injustice.” There are certainly plenty of other incredibly vague corporate statements about this moment out there. Let’s make a list.
The activewear brands are really on this. (H/t @byJenAMiller)

LAFC will “continue to support equality”

On IG, Lululemon obliquely acknowledges that it has a history of controversies of its own and pledged $100K to #MinnesotaFreedomFund. h/t @byJenAMiller + @biblio_phile
OPI says it “believe[s] in unity, hope and love” and that “change starts with our voices.” There’s a link in the bio to the #MinnesotaFreedomFund but the post doesn’t describe the link or explain if OPI has donated to the fund.
Google, "stand[s] in support for racial equality, and all those who search for it."

PureBarre Baltimore praises its community of strong women before urging them toward some nebulous goal. "Let’s not allow another day to pass without the hard work beginning within ourselves." Then they quote...Theodore Roosevelt.

Just an *exemplary* entry into the genre.
Here's a little of mom-and-pop operation with a history of undermining worker protections.

Bratz. A thing here worth pointing out here: what's happening rn is not about "diversity and inclusivity," and this kinda illustrates how those buzzwords are often deployed by brands/corporations and what they obfuscate. (h/t @phirephoenix)
adidas.
Hulu's IG goes with a black field.

The caption reads: "We support Black lives. Today, and every day. You are seen. You are heard. And we are with you."

(don't remember if this one was shared already. these are starting to kind of melt into each other.)
Under Armour, which seems to believe that the problem is disunity.

[Caption: "One playing field. One voice. One future where we’re truly equal. Because united, we win."]
Pandora declares that it MUST and WILL amplify Black voices — which sounds like what i used to yell in vain at Pandora when the "station" careened inexorably toward playing Coldplay even when i started with Mos Def.
CBS, which stands in solidarity...against forces that seemingly exist without any agents or beneficiaries. (h/t @aprjoy)

ABC. Again, standing against a problem with no specific culprits.

back to this one bc it's just so bananas. i asked in the comments: "is there anything in particular you want people to speak up about? is it just #justice #peace #love?"

they deleted the comment, closed them entirely, then edited the post to add "#antiracism."
...ionno, man.

a fairly boilerplate statement, but it's coming from Mr. "Republicans Buy Sneakers, Too"

(h/t @MoeSquare)

...and Marvel. ey, wait a minute!

when "solidarity" meets economies of scale
