With these 5 #healthequity principles, state and local leaders can help their communities recover from COVID-19 fully and fairly—and create a healthier, more equitable future for all of us. rwjf.ws/35XqoCo
1⃣Pandemics and recessions exacerbate disparities that ultimately hurt us all. That’s why we must collect, analyze & report data disaggregated by race, ethnicity, gender, disability status, residential setting + other sociodemographic characteristics.
2⃣Residents who are hardest hit must be included in shaping the recovery strategy, and progress must be measured based on their outcomes.
3⃣Make #racialequity a central component of response and recovery. Empower dedicated teams to address COVID-related racial disparities. And ensure that health and social supports are distributed fairly and proportionate to need.
4⃣The Congressional response to #COVID19 has been historic in scope and speed, but there are policy gaps we must urgently address.

☑️Who's left out?

☑️Will protections last long enough?

☑️Have programs been fully & fairly implemented?
5⃣Strengthen health care, #publichealth & social infrastructure to foster community resilience. This is critical for recovery—and for our nation's survival of the next pandemic, severe weather event, or economic downturn.
If we truly want a nation where everyone has a fair and just opportunity for health, returning to the ways things were is not an option. rwjf.ws/2yM6KNr
