This morning at the PM's press briefing, a CBC reporter, Tom Parry, threw the PM a loaded question. He asked what the PM thought about the actions of Donald Trump, then asked what message his unwillingness to answer would convey. @CBCNews #cdnpoli #cdnmedia 1/10
The Prime Minister took a full 21 seconds to ponder his answer. Vassey Kappelos, Rosemary Barton and some other CBC guy seemed positively delighted that one of their guys had made PMJT so uncomfortable. What are they using for brains? 2/10
I am fairly sure the Prime Minister is shocked and angry and outraged by the US administration's response to the protests. But he cannot say that. It is all well and good for Germany and France to condemn the US administration, they do not share a border with the US. 3/10
Donald Trump is an unstable and volatile president, with "domination" on his mind. Does anyone recall that a month or so ago he was all set to put US military along our border? Does anyone think it would be prudent to piss him off or draw his attention at this point? 4/10
If Canada offends him by our PM speaking candidly about how he really feels about what is happening in the US, at the low end of the scale Trump could slap massive tariffs on Canadian commodities headed to or through the US. 5/10
He could close the border to all cross-border trade. I think everyone would agree that we are not in a position where anyone would welcome further economic disruption. 6/10
He could put US military along our border. And what could we do if the US army was ordered to roll right over that border? The man had troops tear-gas and shoot at people to clear the way for a bloody photo op yesterday! 7/10
He is talking about invoking the Insurrection Act and turning the US military on his own people. What would he not do? What is he not capable of doing if the idea occurred to him and he was in a fit of pique? 8/10
I am grateful our Prime Minister has such a cool head and is able to steer Canada through these multiple crises without endangering Canadians. That question from Tom Parry was an attempt to make the PM provoke Trump. 9/10
I can't imagine how anyone thought that was a good idea. There are times to be forthright, as PMJT has been about Russia being brought back into the G7. And there are times to mind your own business so you can keep your people safe from the wrath of a madman. 10/10
I have been informed the "other CBC guy" was David Cochrane. 11/10
