In this episode of Screaming in the Cloud, I ask @awscloud Chime General Manager @SamandHawk what the deal is with @SlackHQ using Amazon Freaking Chime of all things to power its meeting.

And now, as promised in return for donations to benefit racial justice, I will livetweet the @SlackHQ earnings call in this thread.
We're listening to upbeat classical music. Suprisingly upbeat, given that @SlackHQ shares are down 17% after the release of their earnings.

This quarter last year saw 49% growth. This year's quarter saw almost the same growth.
They lost $76.2 million on revenue of $201.7 million before non GAAP shenanigans.

In related news people paid over $200 million in three months for "IRC as a service." Perhaps this isn't the ridiculously bad idea Slashdot predicted it would be?

$550 goes to roast @Netflix, renowned for giving conference talks about things that don't apply to you. They're big into hiring the best of the best, paying them absolute top of market, and then losing boatloads of money streaming movies and producing original content.
You'll frequently see a bunch of open source projects released by @Netflix, then never updated again. What you're seeing is an engineer who's about to quit passing their work to themselves as they sprint to another company.

We start with a confirmed four figure donation to roast the hell out of @hashicorp across the following five tweets, a phenomenal company started to solve the problem of "what if CloudFormation cost money."
Stumbling their way from business model to business model, their paid product "Atlas" was met with a collective shrug. It turns out that maybe "buying into their entire toolchain start to finish or get fucked" wasn't the best business model.
