to take the lead, with Boris AWOL; allowing them to set the timescales, meaning that we were at least a fortnight too late to lockdown; allowing them to take life protecting equipment from our frontline staff. Until four weeks ago Drakeford and his Government was more than /6
happy to let the Tories take the lead. And don't let him lead you to believe that the scientists who make up Sage led the discussion - it's painfully clear now that there wasn't a settled scientific view, and the damaging decisions to lockdown late was not based on /7
science but instead based on ideology and dogma. This cost lives. So claiming that being part of the Union has been better for Wales is foolish and frankly insulting - and really makes me angry. An independent Wales would have had to do things differently. Being a small nation /8
we would have had to cooperate with other countries, thus putting away any imperial pride and learning best practice. We'd have been far more nimble to respond to people's concerns. We'd have been able to put in place an effective track, trace and isolate policy - which is far /9
far easier in a small State. We'd have had to be innovative, and would have responded with much more vigour because of the closeness of a small state to the people it represents. Quite frankly, Drakeford's comments are insulting. If he prefers to tie himself to Boris' /10
