It is the one-year anniversary of the first major march of the #HongKongProtests. Earlier, people spilled over from Chater Garden into the nearby luxury malls. The chants were deafening in the pedestrian tunnel.
Protesters had started marching westward, taking up at least half of queen’s road.
Police charged down from the west side of the road, making a handful of arrests. Police have now formed a line on Jubilee St.

Police are pushing the line up eastward. Someone on the sidewalk yelled “fuck your mother” at the police and one officer took it VERY personally, charging towards the voices, standing on the sidewalk and asking who yelled.
Heavy riot police presence in Central’s busiest intersection. People leaving from work/gyms are crossing the roads, walking past the police. Pedestrians and journos aren’t allowed to go past where I am standing though.
