My Ugandan friend lives and works in England, United Kingdom (UK) and last year he was trying to upgrade his job position at work.

So he went to the Managing Director (MD) of the company in UK and asked him if he would give him a chance to interview for some of the roles.

After telling him how great he is in his current role and that he can go places, he ended the conversation by telling my friend that he has an accent and it is difficult for him to understand him. He should probably consider doing diction classes or perhaps acting classes

At that particular moment my friend did not comprehend the reaction as a racist comment (or was it?) and so he chose not to react.

But by the time he got home, he realised that within the team, there are many other people on that speak more French & Spanish than English

Bottom line was that the MD was basically letting my friend know implicitly that he didn't see how he was going to represent the brand.
