We'll try to live-tweet the @CHHSAgency reconvened Healthy California for All Commission, starting now! We demand #SinglePayer & for working-class spots on their "focus advisory groups" -- the people are the true stakeholders, not Employers nor Providers! healthyca.org/healthy-califo…
CHHS Secretary and Commission Chair Dr. Mark Ghaly welcomes everyone and recognizes the efforts of organizers -- like us -- who asked them to reconvene.
So far the public comments are dominated by demands for #SinglePayer! We see and thank you, advocates and organizers! Secretary Ghaly acknowledges the "public outcry."
Marian Mulkey, consultant, leads an overview of the Environmental Analysis Report #HC4ACommission
More slides from the report -- looks like we need to get our comments in by Tuesday the 16th! Write to HealthyCAforAll@chhs.ca.gov and demand #SinglePayer and Healthy California Now advisors and working-class stakeholder inclusion in focus groups!
Commissioners @saraflocks and Carmon Comsti expressed concern that their input wasn't reflected in the agenda, and are calling out systemic disparities in COVID-19 response and the Commission's own responsibility in recommending a health care plan for all.
Commissioner @DrRupaMarya recognizes the ongoing health care and racial injustices (incl. private health care), & the public overwhelmingly calling for #SinglePayer, says it's "egregious" to not have working-class input on advisory groups! Thank you for speaking truth to power!
It sounds like the consultants that @CHHSAgency contracted are effectively censoring the opinions of the *multiple* Healthy California for All Commission appointees who are in favor of #SinglePayer. Is this what @CAgovernor wanted when he campaigned on this & formed the group?
It's 11am and that's 4 (FOUR) of the Commissioners so far calling for #SinglePayer, shining a light on #COVID19 disparities, and asking why the public is not being included. The Commission not recognizing its own members let alone the public is further oppression in real time.
Because of organizing and support this morning, the public has been repeatedly recognized by @CHHSAgency Healthy California for All Commission on our demands for single payer -- it's up to the Commission to take action.

Now up, Dr. Andy Bindman from @UCSF:
Dr. Bindman tries to assure public that they will be included, and these Employer and Provider focus groups are initial measures -- but why wasn't the working-class involved from the start? We shouldn't have to demand representation for our own potential health care system.
Commissioner Carmon Comsti is righteously & rightfully calling out this work plan, saying she's not interested in Employer nor Provider advisors, & that the Commission must listen to the public overwhelmingly calling for #SinglePayer. Now legendary Dr. Hsiao is saying the same!
Commissioners @saraflocks and @DrRupaMarya are spitting absolute fire, calling out the disingenuous nature of the lobbyist-dominated "focus groups."
A summation of the Healthy California for All Commission's meeting right now, in not centering the public and instead Employer and Provider focus groups -- and then hundreds of people calling in with demands for #SinglePayer and inclusion.
And now time for verbal public comments! This should be fun... Please be concise and argue for:

1) Single-payer plan
2) Roles for "Healthy California Now coalition" members on focus groups
Over THREE HUNDRED people called in today! We all want #SinglePayer for California, and we all want action now!!

Thank you to everyone who joined and furthered our collective advocacy for health care as a human right!!
