Militarily rolling back PLA occupation is not in India's interest. Instead, we should absorb it for the time being &
1. Retract our acceptance of Chinese sovereignty over Tibet
2. Reiterate our post 1962 parliamentary resolution to repossess all China occupied Indian territory
The withdrawal of our recognition of Chinese sovereignty over Tibet will hurt China more than any sharp & bloody skirmish along the LAC followed by stalemate. Also, it will embolden other nations to stand up assertively against China.
Most importantly, thereafter the Chinese will lose their ability to further nibble Indian territory because of the forward positioning of our troops. The Indian move will elevate economic costs on both sides.
If India chooses to challenge China's disruptive rise from the forefront, the entire world is likely to rally behind us. Our economic stress would be more than compensated by easier access to western technology and goods. The world will rally behind us in international forums.
What happened at Galwan during the night of June 15, 2020 should make it clear that escalation at a geopolitical will hurt China more than any military escalation. @PMOIndia
Based on emerging evidence, forcible eviction of the PLA from occupied heights at Galwan isn't an option. Reports of PLA mobilization along entire LAC, better Chinese surveillance capability & infrastructure rule out a tit-for-tat cross LAC IA occupation.
As stated earlier in the thread we need to
1. Absorb current occupation temporarily, turn LAC to a 'only bullets talk' border with changing Indian perceptions
2. Reiterate post 1962 parliament resolution to repossess Indian territory
3. Recognize Dharamshala based Tibetean govt
The price paid by India for the passive defiance will be lesser than the price paid by China in terms of direct costs, loss of PLA lives and loss of prestige as an aspiring great power.
China has outwitted India by thinking many moves ahead, perhaps right up to end game. What India needs to do is forfeit the Galwan game and start the Tibet game! But only if the political and military leadership have finally learned not to ever trust the Chinese again! @PMOIndia
