Two interesting facts that are not commonly known about H1B visas and GC.

1) You don't HAVE to work for your GC sponsor while it is being processed. You HAVE to work for the sponsor once you get the GC to avoid issues with your citizenship.

The person who has sponsored mine
is someone I never practiced with.

2) You can have multiple part time H1B visas. To gain better experience, I always was in 2 group practices which meant 2 part time visas. When I came for stamping, the lady said "Sorry Sir you need at least one full time visa." Expecting this,
I had printed out the USCIS page which spelt out that multiple part time visas were allowed. She asked to keep the print out to help educate themselves about this better.

Today's ruling is likely to cause a scare among Indians, specially IT folks, and rightly so. How ever, given
that there are NO jobs practically right now, I would say this ruling is a blessing in disguise. Why find out the hard way?

People ALREADY in the US should consult an immigration attorney on their own to ensure they are well protected during renewals.

A neighbor of mine had
to leave overnight because his employer entered the name of his client and not the company as his employer. Needless to say it was picked up and his renewal was denied. I believe since then there is a 60 day window to leave the country.

But just imagine their shock.
On this note, I would also advise students to rethink heading over to the US for MS right now. There is virtually no aid any more and no one knows what the economy is going to be like in a year or two when they will need sponsorship. Even if you factor in the OPT, it's too much
of a risk. Pick up a job here, earn some money and experience. Rethink your strategy next year.

At one point, I was practically an immigration lawyer as much as a dentist.Feel free to reach out if I can help in any way. But at the end,you need to consult an attorney!
