A beautiful painting done by Jammu artist KK Gandhi depicting Krimchi Temples of Udhampur, #Jammu. Locally known as the Pandava Temples because of a belief that the Pandavas worshipped here during their agyat vaas. The Temples consist of 5 temples & 2 shrines.
#TemplesofJammu
The Temples have a garbhagriha with curvilinear shikara & an elongated antarala with a sukanasika decorated with kutasikara & kalasa motif. Some temples have a pillared mandapa infront of antarala, which appears to have been added at a later date.
The temples are believed to be built on tiratha or pancharatha plan externally & square internally. Inner walls of antarala have trefoil niches & pattern of inverted lotus flower on the ceiling under double tiered triangular roof.
During the conservation work a large number of terracotta figurines, copper coins, iron arrowheads, beads of semi-precious stone, pestles, & earthen pots were found. A hearth, brick platform & mud platform belonging to the late Gupta period were also exposed.
