FOR BATS AND THEIR DEFENDERS

The new chapter begins.

A thread on where GBAB is at and where it’s going (don’t dip out earlier than the 5th tweet #TeamSkylion) 1/
Thank you for standing here at the beginning of this journey with me. I’ve told the story of how GBAB got here, but where are we and what’s next?

Well, now you can find me on Instagram! Please follow GBAB there! 2/
And I have a website! Go there to read more about what I’m up to with GBAB, take a peak in the shop, or make a donation! 3/

“A shop?” Indeed, a shop. For now there are a couple stickers and a mask (because duh), but I’m working on some more rad stuff to release later this year. And a BatWC line of merch for next year seems like a very real possibility. 4/

For now, I’m most excited to announce one particular item in the shop that is going to be on a monthly rotation:

THE STICKER OF THE MONTH

And so without beating around the bush, here you go: 5/
This was painted by the same artist as the BatWC Champion sticker, Jessica Chapman! I hope you love it as much as I do and uh...*ahem* sorry again that it didn’t win #BatWC2020 😅

There’s more to announce but I will leave that for coming days and now turn towards the future. 6/
That tagline, “For bats and there defenders,” just seemed like the right summation of everything I want this to be about. Not only am I for bats—pictures of them, info about them, protecting them—but I’m also for the people that love & protect them 7/

I want to bring attention not only to bats but I also to student, citizen, & career scientists of every stripe that are doing the hard work of defending bats. For now this is going to look like sharing their tweets & articles, much like I’ve been doing 8/
But in the future this will probably look more like expanding into the blogosphere & perhaps video production, whatever it takes to make the work of bat scientists more visible and accessible to the general public 9/
I plan to get more involved locally, looking into existing bat walks & education or, if there aren’t any, helping to design them; working with local schools; seeing if I can get involved in zoos; and the list goes on 10/
My mind is teeming with ideas, but at the end of the day it can all be summed up in my tagline:

FOR BATS AND THEIR DEFENDERS

(A big shoutout to Ulysses Design Co. out of Sydney, Australia for creating my logo and my brand identity. PLEASE contact him for your own design needs)
While you’re perusing the website, please take a look at the Hammer-headed bat sticker! The story of how it came to be and why I’m selling them is riiiiiiight here 👇🏼👇🏼
