The Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) cleared for procurement today by the DAC for the IN & @IAF_MCC , is a Nirbhay derivative that can be launched from existing UVLMs (Universal Vertical Launcher Modules) used to launch Brahmos LACMs.
The LRLACM will feature a RF seeker for terminal homing. (Nirbhay was a technology demonstrator project. It didn't feature a terminal homing seeker.) DRDO announced the existence of the LRLACM during #DefExpo2020.
Around 20 development trials of the LRLACM are planned starting 2023. The IN plans to procure 200 LRLACMs worth Rs 5,000 crore for the 30 IN ships armed with Brahmos missiles.
The @IAF_MCC variant of the LRLACM would be air launched, not container based. Like the Nirbhay, LRLACM would be optimized for terrain hugging flight profile to preclude engagement by AD systems.

Some random thoughts on the use of air power during any #LACFlareUp

First & foremost - PLAAF S-400 systems, deployed at around 4,500m elevation on the Tibetan plateau, will not be able to detect or engage @IAF_MCC fighters at long ranges. 1/n
The Brahmos-A & MBDA Storm Shadow are likely the most potent weapons in @IAF_MCC inventory. Alas! Both would be available in miniscule numbers.

Other potent weapons include Su-30MKI delivered Kh-31 and KAB-2500 LGBs 2/n
Spice bombs will have a limited role because of terrain and release height (S-400 detection) restrictions

Precision strike weapons are likely to be used extensively for cutting of supply lines by causing landslides rather than attacking adversary encampments. 3/n

Militarily rolling back PLA occupation is not in India's interest. Instead, we should absorb it for the time being &
1. Retract our acceptance of Chinese sovereignty over Tibet
2. Reiterate our post 1962 parliamentary resolution to repossess all China occupied Indian territory
The withdrawal of our recognition of Chinese sovereignty over Tibet will hurt China more than any sharp & bloody skirmish along the LAC followed by stalemate. Also, it will embolden other nations to stand up assertively against China.
Most importantly, thereafter the Chinese will lose their ability to further nibble Indian territory because of the forward positioning of our troops. The Indian move will elevate economic costs on both sides.

At our @Airbnb_in home #VayuKutir, we have now introduced a delightful new experience - A ride on the the #Kangra Valley, #Himachal toy train from Kopar Lahar (around 20-km from from Vayu Kutir) to #Baijnath and back. This is about the best time in the year for the experience.
Kopar Lahar is a quaint British era railway station on a gently sloping lush green hillside. A nearby clear water stream with a small dam and a lot of birds make it an excellent picnic spot all by itself. There are no crowds even when there is a train on the platform.
The heritage look of the Kopar Lahar station, is evident. The clock on the station, as on all stations on the line, is imported from the UK for authenticity. The 2hr 30 min / 60 km journey to Baijnth costs a princely Rs 15/- Yes, even the ticket cost is heritage!
