People are weird & complex & conflicted. What worries me that they genuinely think they're nice, god fearing folks. And that any problems you've had with them are because of a particular situation not because of who they are.

#conflict #Hypocrisy
I find this culture of self forgiving & building an excuse narrative extremely hypocritical.

Rules to live by & if you fail, you own that too:

1. You get into a contract you honour it
2. You use someone for your work, financial especially, you owe them.

3. You receive goodness from someone you better tell your family to be nice & generous to them, especially in praying for them
4. You try & open doors for the less fortunate, always.
5. Pay the fees of struggling students regardless of grades

6. If you're in a position to support another, do it
7. Keep your heart big, your mind open.
8. You cannot support black lives & not employ people of colour
9. You cannot claim to be diverse & deny your own cultural identity

10. You cannot be perceived as a community leader but your home (heart) is closed to those who might need you
11. You cannot only raise funds for causes millions of miles away with people in your backyard suffering

Three people messaged me today.

#Thread #Hypocrisy
One struggling, lonely in an expat job. Another, a cjm friend who I haven't met from 92, took my number to chat & asked me if I was struggling & a third person, asking me to review a project that aims to create income opportunities for persons with disability.

The struggle is real across classes, across sectors, across countries. The only thread that connects us is our humanity. The feel that allows us to feel for another, be it older parents, a cousin suffering across continents, a lonely friend. Why must then are we so insular,
that the only people we care for is our immediate circle. And Ofcourse the generic popular causes that are the flavour of the month.

Is activism just a byproduct of vested interests or deeply connected to our values.

I often wonder.
