Rich horrible writers from whose appalling views there is nowhere to escape are whining about being silenced.
Israel is litmus test of free speech. Check each name. How have spoken up for any of the countless people, smeared, demonized or fired for criticizing even mildly Israel’s crimes? If they never said a thing about censorship of BDS on campuses or in Congress they are frauds.
The biggest joke of many is that Cary Nelson signed the letter. This censorious thug cheered on the firing of @stevesalaita for speaking out against Israel’s slaughter of children in Gaza. That disgusting racist hypocrite is now whining about free speech? Vile.
Paul Berman and George Packer among others were big cheerleaders for the Iraq war. A million Iraqis won’t have the freedom of speech they are whining about now, because they are dead. They have blood on their hands.
Margaret Atwood spat in the faces of Gaza students who asked her not to accept a million dollar prize from Israel, which denies them every basic right. Now she’s whining about freedom of speech? She didn’t stand with their freedom when it counted. Disgusting.
I don’t support any kind of censorship but honestly lives would be saved if many of these awful people were never heard from again.
