The Tories are up to their old tricks yet again in trying to deflect attention away from their own failures by laying the blame for the sweatshops of Leicester at the door of the local council and police.
Is anyone surprised that another Tory government that is morally bankrupt on so many fronts is trying to now cleanse its image from by forging a new image of being a champion of human rights in proposing tougher legislation against the ills of 'modern slavery'.
It seems that there is no end of Tory cabinet ministers rushing off to proclaim a new cause at home & abroad. This includes Patel's new found crocodile crusade against injustice in the workplace and Rabb in taking tyrants to task globally as well as Sunak on youth unemployment.
However they forget you cannot champion any cause when you already have been the source of the injustices that have existed for at least a decade as a result of successive Tory policies. Nevertheless the ministry of feed good propaganda has no conscience on whitewashing the facts
No doubt this is another Cummings idea but you can only create so much spin before the facts speak for themselves. It was under repeated Tory governments that incentivised schemes existed for sweatshops to operate under the radar of the government's nose.
Not enough was done back then to legislate for stronger protections for reputable businesses against unfair competition. The inspectors did their job but they don't make the law. So why's Patel getting all hoppity about what was the Tories problem in the first place to sort out?
The answer lies in the way that Tory governments have always put the blame on those who are trying their level best in a bad situation and that extends to the Leicester Council, the Police and way before that to the BBC in the days of Cameron.
The way the Tories turned the spotlight on the good guys is far from uncommon. One notable firm - Public Interest Lawyers, was closed down after Theresa May ordered a clampdown on human rights lawyers she claimed were pursuing 'spurious claims' against members of the armed forces
Other words were neatly coined like 'vexatious claims' to torpedo any further progress towards justice for the long suffering families of the Bloody Sunday victims in Derry. Leicester City Council is far from alone in becoming the next victim of Tories passing the buck.
The Tory are masters of doing exactly that when the truth is out and they are the ones behind the coverups and failure to act when they should. Blaming the Grenfell victims was another one under May's leadership. The families of the victims are still seeking justice.
Another Tory government and the ranks of those seeking justice are swollen by the heartbroken families of those who died during the Covid-19 Pandemic in the UK marching on Downing Street at the weekend to protest Tory negligence in failing to act yet again when they ought to have
So Leicester City Council is not the real issue here. Its problems are a microcosm of the much deeper and far flung legacy of poverty, low wage economy, exploitation & injustice that have arisen from a decade of Tory mismanagement that is merely symptomatic of an entire legacy.

If the DUP are in anyway sincere about negotiating a form of Brexit that would have obviated the need for a border in the Irish Sea, then why did they oppose the much softer Brexit deal agreed between Theresa May and the EU?
The fact is they didn’t and now they’re like a spoiled truculent child that returns to the table demanding a third option other than a soft or hard Brexit. They refuse to face the reality there are only two forms of Brexit neither of which are in the interests of Northern Ireland
However one is less damaging than the other. The DUP then temporarily jumped ship and then signed up to the other, namely a hard Brexit by rejecting the May deal.

DUP’s Edwin Poots has broken not only the Brexit Treaty with the EU by unilaterally stopping checks on goods entering N.Ireland but also international law. Reckless and shortsighted action on his part! 🙄
The DUP have now left the entire U.K. facing the grim prospect of the EU triggering large chunks of the Brexit deal with dire consequences for businesses and trade.
His decision to halt checks at midnight tonight has left Boris Johnson with a serious dilemma to solve in what to do with the DUP who have failed to even consult the rest of the political parties at Stormont before taking action.

Having read how teachers across Ireland are increasingly teaching children with diverse backgrounds and planning their teaching around the children's own experiences including their culture and faith, it shows what a common misperception that exists regarding Catholic Schools.
Far from being sectarian, non-inclusive and traditional in their teaching, Catholic Schools in Northern Ireland for example have made huge advances in promoting diversity both in their admissions policies, planning and delivery of lessons.
In just one example of many Catholic Schools, a primary 7 teacher had 30 pupils with C of I, Presbyterian, Muslim, Quaker and Methodist faith backgrounds. So where does the word 'segregation' have any place in these schools?

More dog whistling by the MSM. Two-thirds of anti-vax propaganda online created by just 12 influencers, research finds news.sky.com/story/two-thir…
It is absolutely wrong to claim in the absence of clear evidence from a majority of antivaxxers that they tend to be more aggressive in forcing others not to take the vaccines. There is no survey in existence that can prove that and I defy anyone to prove it that claims otherwise
Secondly, it’s true there is a number of antivaxxers who are light on the facts or evidence regarding vaccines or plain away with the birds perhaps in their conspiracy theories.

Buongiorno! Three ways of making coffee as shown in photo! Automatic Bean to Cup ( DeLonghi), Pods - Krups Machine plus Nespresso pods or the traditional Italian method of stove top filtered brewing. Which is the best?
Having used all three this is my findings/opinion- the only way for best coffee is bean to cup method but rather than spending loads of money on way overly expensive coffee machines these are my tips for great coffee without the huge costs involved in doing so! 👇
I have invested in the stove method using a traditional Italian Biatelli stove top filtered coffee maker. If you have an induction hob on your electric cooker first check it is suitable for induction hobs and not just gas cookers or it won’t heat up.
