Remember, each gallon of gasoline you burn sends about 20 pounds of CO2 (a greenhouse gas) into the atmosphere,... EACH gallon.
That is carbon that was previously sequestered in the ground for millions of years, now being released at a rate quicker than Earth can absorb it, or most life can adjust.
Keep in mind this is all we have, and no way off.

The defeatist among the public will ask the question the fossil fuel industry has fed them: "What about China? What about India?...". Notice they don't ask about dozen of other countries, or why the USA should compare itself with the bottom of the pile.
