PARENTS OF AUTISTIC KIDS: You are being lied to by several large autism parent advocates & it’s scary. You are being told #ActuallyAutistic adults & the ND movement is full of hate & judgement. These are generalizations & they’re harmful and very inaccurate.
It’s an attempt to keep the divide clear so control over narratives can continue on. Please see through this. Please know there are #ActuallyAutistics who want to bridge the gap, who want unison, who want the best for all involved. I am one of them.
Please know that many of us have grown in our advocacy journey. Know that our anger is valid, but many of us use it as a motive for change instead of spreading hate or misinformation. I’ve personally had horrifying interactions with parents of autistics but I certainly don’t
go running around claiming all autism parents fall under one category. That’s just silly. Don’t fall for this rhetoric on either side. It’s an attempt to control their audience. Respect autistic voices & you can always expect a wealth of insight & information.
