630 new Indiana #coronavirus cases. Excluding Monday reports, which are typically lower because they reflect Sunday reporting, that's the fewest since July 12, but also the fewest tests since that date. 8.4% positivity rate, making 23 straight days at 7.4% or higher.
.@CDCgov considers positivity rates over 5% to be the "yellow zone"(Indiana's been there since June 29) and 10% to be the dangerous "red zone" (Indiana's reached that level just once since the April-May peak). The trend has caught this guy's notice: cnb.cx/3jQC8x0
8 new Indiana #coronavirus deaths bring the death toll to 2,733. Counting presumptive #COVID19 deaths, the total death toll is 2,932.
After a sharp spike yesterday in the number of Hoosiers hospitalized with #coronavirus, the count has plunged to 837, back to about where it was the two days before that. 278 of those are in intensive care, the fewest in eight days.
Lake County, one of 10 listed by @CDCgov as red zone counties based on numbers last week, reports just 26 new cases, the fewest there since June 30, with a 6.7% positivity rate.
H/T @snevetseel: St Joseph County Health Department just released guidance to school districts there, with a stricter definition of "red zone" at 7.5%, at which level they "strongly recommend" #elearning or "severely limited" in-person instruction. St Joe was at 10.2% today.
.@sjchealth also sets a "red zone" for schools at 1 case per 10,000 people (rolling 7-day average), which is 28 cases a day. That hasn't been the case since July 10; they've had just 2 single days that low in that span. The 7-day average right now is 39.

Debate begins in Indiana House on final vote on bill limiting employer #vaccinemandates.
House Majority Leader Matt Lehman: "This bill is not about the vaccine itself; it's about the people affected" by mandates. #INLegis
Lehman points to nurses who testified they fear getting fired for being unvaxed, after working for 9 months of pandemic before #vaccine became available.

Last week's #SCOTUS ruling means those nurses aren't affected by this bill; they're still required to get vaxed or get fired.
