Latest @DoD_IG report on @CJTFOIR warns of increasing attempts by #Assad regime, #Russia to get more access to oil fields "particularly in rural areas south & east of #Qamishli"
If 250 #SDF oil guards graduated from @CJTFOIR training each month from April to June, there would be at least 750 fighters to guard the oil fields
But per @DoD_IG report, as of end of June, "approximately 50 to 60 percent of the required guard force had been trained"
Each trained guard is issued an #AK47 & charged w/standing watch, doing mobile patrols
@CJTFOIR told @DoD_IG the oil guards are also being prepared to respond to sabotage
Money for the training & equipment comes from the Counter-ISIS Train and Equip Fund, per @DoD_IG
Oil fields under US/#SDF protection producing "at least 30,000 barrels" per day, @DefenseIntel told @DoD_IG
Before collapse of global oil prices, that was worth up to $3 million a day
Reports says it's unclear how much #SDF lost as result of the price collapse
