Important article... @ejmalrai ‘s exclusive reveals content of #US message conveyed via #Russia to #Syria.
1-The US will leave #Syria.
2- Let the Kurds continue negotiations with Damascus. 3- The US establishment will recognise Assad’s authority over Syria..
But Iran must leave.
.2/ #Assad’s response:
#US came to #Syria uninvited and it’s presence is illegal.
Syria’s duty is to push it out by all means.
#US shall not obtain by negotiation what it failed to obtain in seven years of war.
.3/ Assad & his allies see a US-French-UK withdrawal as an achievement & their eventual withdrawal a necessity, once Syria is no longer in need of their help.
Assad conveyed to US, Iran not interested in remaining once mission of terminating “terrorist” threat is accomplished.

Amid #Assad regime offensive in south #Syria, worth bearing in mind its continued bombing of areas in #Idlib - also under a so-called “de-escalation zone.”

Having watched the southern zone dissolved w/o response from #Jordan or #Israel, #Turkey’s now warning #Idlib = “red line."
#Turkey has deployed its own armed forces to x12 “observation posts” fencing in opposition areas & enforcing de-escalation.

#Russia seems invested in stability in #Idlib - but for how long?

After #Deraa, will #Assad & #Iran destroy the last remaining “de-escalation zone”?
For now, expect periodic regime bombing raids & notably, also ‘spoiling’ attacks by fighters unrestrained by #Turkey’s iron grip.

#HTS will remain internally divided on de-escalation -- the more regime bombings, the heavier the pressure for #HTS to respond = #Assad opportunity.

Just for you all to keep in mind:

#Russia will never ask #Iran (and allies) to pull out of #Syria or out of the south of #Syria.

Russia wants to avoid further clashes between #Israel & #Iran in Syria and will try to do so to the benefit of the central government In #Damascus.
#Russia understands that #Iran was in #Syria 1st (2013 heavily) to help #Damascus to fight #ISIS, #AQ and their allies supported (finance, weapons, intel) by Arab, Israel and western countries to stop "regime change".

Russia came to join the already ongoing effort in 2015.
Unlike what many "pop-corn analysts", "Twitter or divan journalists/analysts" might say, #Assad - although very grateful for Moscow's intervention not only in Syria but also at the UN and various platforms - can and did disagree with #Russia in few battles north and south.

Absolutely superb work by @nytimes, @bellingcat & @ForensicArchi - exposing clear evidence that #Assad regime was responsible for the April 7 chemical attack in #Douma.

The munition used matched many previous CW attacks.

Watch this.

NEW - @OPCW report confirms that #Chlorine was found at the site of the April 7 attack in #Douma, aligning closely with previous investigations.

Note: #Russia said no chemicals were used & it was a false flag attack (mutually contradictory, but hey...)

opcw.org/news/article/o…
@OPCW Remember that “rebel chemical weapons factory” in #Douma that pro-#Assad people trumpeted on about?

The @OPCW inspected it and found zero evidence of any chemical weapons production or toxic chemicals.

More #Russia disinformation rubbished.

As expected, the #Assad regime - supported by #Russia & yes, #Iran-backed militias - is well into a pre-planned offensive vs. opposition-held areas in S/SW #Syria.

= Violating de-escalation zone agreement & with little/no word/response from the opposition’s foreign backers.
#pt: At least one pro-#Assad Shia militia group overtly backed by #Iran/#IRGC -- Liwa Zulfiqar -- has publicly proclaimed its ongoing role in the offensive in south #Syria.

No word or response from #Israel, as yet.

It’s extraordinary just how much BS gets created in people’s minds.

I never once expressed “support” for #Turkey’s #Afrin operation.

- Did I say it was inevitable? Yes.
- Did I observe it & comment on its advance vis-a-vis broader #Syria dynamics (i.e. my job)? Yes.
My critique has always been about the imbalance/s created in northern #Syria by U.S. counter-#ISIS policy.

The #YPG was/is the #PKK - all U.S. officials admit that in private. That didn’t necessarily have to preclude working with them, but ignoring it caused big, big problems.
#pt: As an analyst of terrorist groups, I did see a certain irony & short-sightedness in the words of one top, serving U.S. official, “allying with a terrorist group (#PKK) to fight another terrorist group (#ISIS).”

It’s got nothing to do with any position on #Kurds, whatsoever.

U.S. counter-#ISIS strategy & its insistence on ignoring/denying the #YPG’s roots helped give birth to problems like #Afrin today.

Everything was driven by short-term objectives, with their long-term implications constantly swept aside as inconvenient distractions.

Now look.
Was the U.S. right [at the time] to partner with the #YPG? Absolutely.

Were sufficient, honest efforts put in place to balance the consequences of working with the #YPG? No.

The result = a profound imbalance & a security challenge that #Turkey was always going to hit back at.
#pt: The #YPG did a superb job at liberating territory from #ISIS control; they were a truly reliable partner.

BUT, the U.S’s creation of a profound imbalance in northern #Syria - ironically - created the conditions in which the #YPG stood to lose a great deal.

Look at #Afrin.

Interesting [alleged] details on possible US-#Turkey roadmap on #Manbij, #Syria - from @ragipsoylu.

#PKK “advisors” to leave… followed later by #YPG… TSK to control 5/11 observation posts & train new local security force to replace #SDF in ~6 months.
@ragipsoylu Unsurprisingly, the #PKK-controlled, #YPG/#SDF-run #Manbij Military Council (MMC) has refused any TSK presence.

Seems U.S. did not pre-consult with MMC - why? Would seem the logical thing to work out internal issues first…

Does someone want spoilers?

reuters.com/article/us-mid…
@ragipsoylu The #YPG/#SDF’s political “co-chair,” Ilham Ahmed (a #PKK veteran) has reportedly arrived in #Damascus for talks with the #Assad regime.

Ilham Ahmed is a regular visitor to Washington DC - a close partner to the U.S/@CJTFOIR/@StateDept.

#Assad: #Israel is panicking because it lost its dear ones, #alQaeda/#Nusra. Both targeted our air defenses, Israel & #US inflicted some loss, but thanks to #Russia, the situation is getting better. Recent attacks by the Americans, English and French prove this point.

I was eagerly waiting for this comment, @O_Rich_ #Syria #Iran #Russia #israel
.@O_Rich_ made the right reading of @ejmalrai 's article. Some might see conspiracies by Russia, but this is the right reading.
#Russia's most important achievement in #Syria is that it safeguarded the structure of the state and its institutions. And it is through this structure, and through these institutions that the state can reclaim the rest of #Syria. @O_Rich_ @ejmalrai

What was the United Nations charter created for?

Get the message, #Iran: #Israel will hammer you every time.

The #airstrikes into #Syria demonstrates #Israeli resolve to not allow Iran to establish military bases, facilities, or conduct activities near the border.
@netanyahu #middleeast #SyriaStrikes cnn.it/2jPrpFr
It should be pretty clear by now- since #Israel has launched at least a hundred strikes into #Syria in the last seven years- that every time they have felt threatened by #Iran, the #Israeli's will take decisive action. #SyriaStrikes
#Iran is determined to position themselves to be able to deal a devastating blow to their hated enemy, #Israel, from bases in #Syria. Their view is that they have helped the #Assad regime with their #civilwar and now it is payback time. #SyriaStrikes

#QAnon

This thread relates to recent #Q posts and gives a big-picture explanation of the massive #Treason that #POTUS and #WhiteHats have been fighting. This almost led to a military #Coup against #Traitor44's regime.

Graphic below acts as a map to clarify key elements.

Many of the crucial components of the #Treason are contained w/in the "Shell Game" report compiled by #Patriot #ScottBennett. This was recently publicized on the internet, explained in this thread:
3/
Ever wonder why #DEM AND #GOP leadership opposed #Trump w/such animus? #Flynn and #Trump knew about the level of #Corruption/#Treason involving the elite, on BOTH sides of the aisle. Trump would discover, reveal, and punish their crimes (#DrainTheSwamp).

Every time you oppose Assad, you're supporting monstrous terrorists

And, yes, to dominate the Middle East, the US and its allies are arming/funding the most vile psychopaths

"Moderate rebels" is a marketing term

#Syria #Iran #Russia #Qanon
In a recent poll, 58% of Americans support the bombing of Syria and 19% have “no opinion.” This is wonderful news, since it shows how the vast majority of people are easily manipulated and are simply apathetic.

This is a thread on yet another anti-Semite in the #Labour Party - which, without fail, #Corbyn and the #JC4PM campaign will ignore. As I will discuss, he refers to Jews as "dogs" and "inbred", among several other abusive terms.
First, he equates the Jewish ancestry of a Twitter user with supporting #Israel. He then continues to associate the "state with the same ideology as Nazism" - a direct attempt to abuse and humiliate Jews, and tarnish them with their own tragic history.
He claims that Luciana Berger is exaggerating anti-Semitism (which reduced her to tears in the House of Commons, after she recieved abuse among death threats and rape threats) and only wishes to "cry about it". Apparently she is trying to "pretend anti-Semitism is on the rise".

This January 31, 2011 @WSJ interview with #Assad didn't age well. He said the regional upheaval would bypass #Syria because unlike #Egypt it wasn't supported by the US and it had its own reform process. Whoops. wsj.com/articles/SB100…
He followed this up by blaming Mubarak's fall in #Egypt on its commitment to peace with #Israel - because that was what he believed Egyptians were protesting. Therefore, as the Syrian media argued, Syria's membership in the Resistance Axis would ensure Assad's rule.

.@StateDept: There is no doubt about #Assad regime's pattern of chemical weapons. Since 2014, the OPCW assigned responsibility to Assad for multiple sarin & chlorine attacks. We've noticed there’s an awful lot of Russian #Propaganda out there, so we thought we’d offer some facts:
FACT: The #Syrian regime used chemical weapons near #Douma on April 7, killed at least 45 people and sickening hundreds more. Our information is consistent and corroborated by multiple sources, from military intelligence to social media users, NGOs to international organizations.
FACT: The joint U.S.-UK-France strikes were a justified, legitimate and proportionate response to the #Syria government's continued use of chemical weapons on its own people.

I feel it is time to talk a little bit about what is going on in the Middle East. I was not very happy about @realDonaldTrump's missile strike in Syria. I am VERY anti-war because of my experiences in the 60's and the atrocities that were Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan.
Especially it disgusts me when children are hurt and killed. This is from #Yemen, done by the Saudis, our allies. Few complaining about this, lots of ordnance used massive profits for the Military Industrial Complex.
In the 2012, 2008, 2004, 2000, and 1996 elections, I wrote in @RonPaul for President. Also I am a strong advocate of the #Libertarian school of thought.

1/6 Thread: a few preliminary thoughts tonight: US, FR, UK military strikes in #Syria are an appropriate response to the monstrous, repeated use of CW by the Assad regime against civilians.
2/6 More unilateral US sanctions wd not deter #Assad. Russia — which vetoed even the renewal of the UN-OPCW investigation mechanism, knowing it told the truth — would never allow any meaningful response through the #UNSC. Russia has never admitted a single regime use.
3/6 At one point some hoped that Iran — its own soldiers once gassed by Iraq — might press #Assad to cease CW use. But now, years into Assad’s serial use, Iran & Russia are completely complicit in Assad’s “win at any cost, win with any weapon” strategy.

2. The strikes were heard clearly in all parts of the Capital and continued on and off for a duration of 50 minutes, Syrian state media reported the strikes but didn’t provide information as to the locations

2+/ Syrians on the ground, who were opposing #Assad:" Different rebels fought one another in the street, over taxes, money, food supply, humanitarian aids, imposing taxes on merchandise w/o offering security at least. We are at a point where #Assad looks almost as a saver to us".
