We had a sublet apartment off I35 and I was trying to find work while I studied for the Bar Exam. And though there was not yet an @alamodrafthouse, Austin was an oasis for movie lovers. This was the summer of the first #Tarantino-fest at the old @DobieATX. 2/
@VulcanVideoATX had been the first place I had gone, first night. I had looked all over the country for a copy of Mario #Bava's Black Sunday. Vulcan didn't just have it, they had both an American and a European cut. With #Linklater making movies in the hills, Austin was home. 3/
Unemployed and not studying as much as I should, I remember leaving a job interview in downtown Austin. I walked to the downtown @AustinPublicLib next to the History Center. I have and have always had a favorite Dewey Decimal Number: 791. Movies. 4/
I came across Bruce Wright's #Nightwalkers, the original 1995 edition. Wright explored the connection between @HorrorHammer1 colorful horror films and Roger #Corman's Poe stories. But more this he brought a wit and style to the discussion. 5/
My eyes were opened-- I found in #Gothic horror a world that had depth and breadth but that I had never heard defined before.

When @inchurlyo and I founded @castlebridgemed, #Nightwalkers was one of the books I wanted to see return. That's why seeing it back is such a joy for me. This book changed my life and my love of movies-- and now we get to bring a new version to the world in 2020 8/
