MALARIA Vs GENOTYPE AA

Here's why people with #genotypeAA are more prone to malaria:

The commonest malaria parasite (Plasmodium falciparum) loves plenty of blood & oxygen. Since AA is the perfect one with plenty of blood & oxygen, the parasite prefers AA blood.

Studies show the following malaria susceptibility ratios, among children with different genotypes:

AA: 92.3%

AS: 5.1%

SS: 2.6%

Can you see the difference?
But be warned. Malaria is more harmful in persons with Genotype SS coz it can cause life-threatening #SickleCellCrisis.

This crisis doesn't occur in people with Genotype AA.
