[Thread] Huge thank-you to @kieranryanphoto the @dublincycling volunteer communications coordinator for organising tonight's discussion on Building a Sustainable Future for the #PhoenixPark.

There were so many outstanding contributions. A few that stood out:
.@NorahCasey talking about growing up the park was fascinating. A key change she noticed was the huge increase of families out in the park during lockdown, just like it was during her childhood.

She spoke so well of the park as a home for wildlife in the city.
.@SusanTheSilent's contribution was superb. You have to listen back when we post the video. Her thoughts on mobility and the importance of thinking of the many different mobility aids was 🙌. Everything from prams, to wheelchairs, to bikes, to public transport & to cars and more.
There was a great contribution from @kenfoxe that put into context the government records he accessed through Freedom of Information.

He highlighted what the records meant, what to expect for government decisions like this and what these records hinted to. A true expert.
I love the way @JanetPHorner raised questions about the right people in Dublin have to a safe green space for their health and wellbeing. Particularly inner city residents who don't have gardens or communal green spaces.
Dr @colmpbyrne, @IrishDocsEnv and doctor in St Mary's within the Park, spoke so well about how maintaining vehicle access to the park is important. However, his research on air pollution highlights how necessary it is that we reduce air pollution from traffic, especially in parks
Cllr Cieran Perry, @marie_sherlock, @CllrCat, @djlonergan and @neasa_neasa spoke so well about the local issues and how important it is to build a broad alliance of people who want to a better future for the Phoenix Park.

We must bridge the gap and avoid echo chambers.
This was a small flavour of all of the contributions.

@dublincycling will post the video of the full panel discussion online. I highly recommend you watch it back if you missed it. There's tons of fantastic insights in there.
While the public meeting on building A Sustainable Future for the #PhoenixPark is over this is not the end of the discussion. If you're interested in working to build a coalition of groups/people interested in achieving this aim I recommend you email info@dublincycling.com
