2/ I've continued research the last 10 years. I've attached a nontechnical summary. It causes brain damage, memory loss, impairs judgement, increases accidents, makes it harder to get jobs, and, and long term avg drop of 10 IQ points. Many people think its harmless. It's NOT.
3/ Marijuana is NOT a harmless drug. What the GA did in decriminalization is EXACTLY CORRECT. @VaHouseDems @VASenateDems Pot is especially harmful to children & teens. When DC legalized pot, children went to school high from breathing parents second hand smoke. #RVA #rvacouncil
4/ delta-9 tetrahydroxy cannabinol or THC is the dangerous component in pot. It is a hallucinogenic drug, in high doses triggering psychoses, including schizophrenia. The GOOD compound in pot, which gives all the benefits like anti-anxiety, pain relief is cannabidiol, CBD
4/ Most everyone knowledgeable knows this. Its' why so many CBD products are popping up, but they too need safety and efficacy studies, which are being done. Also @FDA 4 new locations to grow research quality marijuana for more research, which is needed.
4/ There are two main active compounds in marijuana, THC tetrahydrocannabinol, and CBD, cannabidiol. CBD relieves anxiety, pain, stress, giving a calm peaceful feeling. THC is the bad actor. It is hallucinogenic. This is well known & is why so many CBD products are on the market.
5/ The GA got it exactly right when they decriminalized marijuana. Doing so addressed all the issues of criminal justice Stoney brought up.
I applaud the GA for its decriminalization which took effect July 1. But for the love & well-being of your children, DON"T GO FURTHER.
