We give up so much of our own time for kids. Stop implying the opposite. Our unions haven’t instructed us to stop anything, so you are both lying to the public and making our jobs harder by trying to turn the public against us. /2
The hardest part of our job is the disrespect that comes from some of the general public who don’t understand the actual ins and outs of our profession. I would expect the Minister of Education to respect and defend us. We are what makes our province’s education system great. /3
We are asking for something reasonable: adequate funding for a #SafeSeptember . We deserve it, the public deserves it, and most importantly, the kids deserve it. There are now just 14 business days until the first day, and you make daily changes that impede board’s plans. /4
Unlocking board’s reserve funds was not enough and you know it. It just further undermines the future of public education in this province. Boards need money and time to find space and staff to make class sizes smaller, allowing for physical distancing. /5
In summary, @Sflecce , go down in history as the guy that saved Ontario’s public education system, and not the guy that ruined it, causing people to get sick unnecessarily. Do better: fund smaller class sizes now. @maritstiles #UnsafeSeptember /fin
