They were organized by Mike Dunn, who leads the "Virginia Militia."
Today is a special legislative session in Richmond, but gun control isn't a planned subject.
Chants of "Virginia will not fall!" filled the street for a few miles, from the capital to the Science Museum.
"Do free men ask for permission to carry out flags and our symbols?" he said. "No they do not! We will not comply!"
To our right (from this cam angle) state delegates were talking to media. Dunn argued to cop he should be allowed there too.
Dunn continued to stand in the street despite the police's wishes.
This tweet has the ending of it, but I've put the entire argument into its own Youtube video uncut:
The woman stayed silent as someone began giving a speech.
He concluded with a call and chant of "Sic temper tyrannis! Thus always to tyrants!"
"Virginia will not fall!"
As always, all footage available to license, and please review the livestream for the context of every moment.
