Per SSCI, the heat/light in two Trump-Putin letters in summer 2013 were in a) Trump making an extended stay in Moscow separate from his pageant, b) him asking for a personal meeting with Putin. The pageant thought this *extraordinary*. Trump already knew he was running for POTUS. 
PS/ Trump was "keen" on meeting Putin in mid-2013 and was willing to rearrange his schedule to make it happen. Remember—please remember—that at this point Trump knew he was running for president, his top aides knew, it appears some Kremlin agents knew, but *America did not know*.
PS2/ The SSCI Report establishes that Trump's desire to meet privately and secretly with Vladimir Putin in November 2013 bordered on an *obsession*—he wouldn't stop talking about it—and the Miss Universe pageant says "he didn't explain why" the meeting was so important to him.
PS3/ Trump was also focused on bringing a Soviet-born, Russian intel-connected business partner with him to Moscow. The Russian "gangster" hosting him was focused on promising Trump a meeting with Putin's banker at Sberbank. Sberbank soon offered to bankroll Trump Tower Moscow.
PS4/ Understand that the evidence suggests that many or all involved in these emails and meetings and promises and potential deals knew Trump was running for president. Trump appears to have been leveraging his presidential run—in secret—to make hundreds of millions of dollars.

PS6/ It seems possible—from the SSCI Report—that Putin in part gave Trump's "gangster" business partner Agalarov a "Medal of Freedom" on October 29, 2013, to meet with him in extended fashion to discuss Donald Trump. The Report confirms Trump is what Putin and Agalarov discussed.
PS7/ Per the SSCI Report, Donald Trump's social milieu in Moscow in November 2013 appears to have included among its number—guests of Trump's "gangster" business partner—Russian intelligence and individuals who would shortly be responsible for attacks on America in 2015 and 2016.
PS8/ Holy cow—those Trump spent time around in Moscow in November 2013 included... the then-wife of Paul Manafort's boss, Oleg Deripaska.
Again, this is November 2013. Manafort was still (a) doing pro-Kremlin work in Europe, (b) 26 months from approaching Trump to ask for a job.
