Fascism is not a partisan affiliation but a set of tools & means to power. It's okay to call people who promise a return to mythical former glory, slash governing norms to center a movement around a strongman & create new reality through force of will "fascists." Because they are

Fascists tell us (as Jim Jordan just did) that only they can save our institutions even as they dismantle them in front of us. They tell us the great leader loves & wants to build the country, but so long as his opponents hate & want to destroy it we don't need actual policies

Trump took power in 2016 by blaming scary outsiders (mostly Latino and Muslim immigrants) for our problems, and if we don't stand up to him he will keep it in 2020 by moving on to fascism's next stop: blaming scary *insiders* (anarchists, Communists, ANTIFA) for our problems

A speaker just solemnly informed us that "Donald Trump ended once and for all the policy of the incarceration of black people." No one believes this, including the audience. They don't even *want* it to be true. They just say things. That's how fascism works

The speaker claims he was a leading Democrat in his area who was forced out of the party when he publicly supported Trump, giving this as an example of how Dems hate "independent thinking."

Or, you know, how party politics work generally

I'm not going to say that this Parkland father doesn't have a right to his opinion that restorative justice should never be available to anyone in any case, but I will say there is something uniquely fashy about hearing him say it

The Missouri gun couple appear after a fashy montage of "riots" and violence and how the police they love so much had the gall to arrest and charge them for nothing more than pointing guns at people they didn't like
