National Sleep Foundation guidelines advise that healthy adults need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep per night.

Babies, young children, and teens need even more sleep to enable their growth and development.

People over 65 should also get 7 to 8 hours per night.

Sleep deprivation known as insufficient sleep or sleeplessness is the condition of not having enough sleep.

Sleep deprivation affects the brain and cognitive function
generally, sleep deprivation may facilitate or intensify:
aching muscles
confusion, memory lapses or loss
depression
development of false memory

not to mention those black eye bags that makes you look tired.
@CDCgov suggests the following tips to improve sleeping habits.

Firstly, have a consistent sleep schedule, wake up and go to bed at the same time every day including the weekends.
Secondly, removing computers, televisions, and other smart devices from a person bedroom to avoid the use of electronics before bed.

Finally, attempt to remain active throughout the day and avoid ingesting large meals and caffeine before bed
