Last month I launched the @OntLiberal Party's Students in Schools Action Plan. Moms and dads across Ontario are desperate for leadership and need clarity about how students and education workers would be going back to school (1/4).
Now, just a week away from Labour Day, two million Ontario students are preparing to go back to school over the next few weeks. Parents, students and educators are anxious about their safety. They need answers now (2/4).
That's why we're here today to launch a new website: KeepOurSchoolsSafe.ca where parents, teachers, and education workers can share their stories - so Doug Ford is forced to hear their voices. Even if it means playing your testimonial in the Legislature (3/4).
Ontarians are looking for leadership. We aren’t getting that from Doug Ford.
That’s why we're asking you to share your stories and lend your voice through KeepOurSchoolsSafe.ca (4/4). #SafeSeptember#onpoli

I have taken several days to comment publicly on the protest that took place this past Monday at the BAYT synagogue in our community because I wanted some time to reflect on what occurred before reacting.
I have also been responding to the many e-mails, phone calls and texts that I’ve received from residents who have expressed their views and concerns about this incident with me. I will continue to respond until I've answered all who have reached out.
I want to be crystal clear: I believe that one of my most important obligations as Mayor of this city is to do everything possible to protect our residents, and to make sure they feel safe and are safe at all times.
I am aware that there are protests planned for tomorrow for the area around Garnet A. Williams Community Centre, the Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto Synagogue and possibly at other locations nearby.
I know that this is of great concern to many residents who live in the area.
I have been in touch with the leadership of York Regional Police @YRP and they have assured me that they have prepared an operational plan that will help maintain order and keep all of our residents safe.
@YRP In addition, given that one of the venues in question is a City of Vaughan facility, we will have our Special Enforcement Unit and Corporate Security on site as a precaution, working in coordination with @YRP
I want to thank the Long-Term Care Commission for their dedication and diligence. It is time for us to accept their recommendations and move forward urgently to take action to fix long-term care once and for all. #onpoli 1/
During my time in government, I believe important progress was made. But it is clear that so much more needs to be done, and done quickly. 2/
Our parents and grandparents built our province and country, and I know from experience, that they would move heaven and earth to protect us. We owe them the same consideration, and we have a profoundly important duty to get it right. 3/
Today’s half-hearted attempt at a #paidsickleave program is an abandonment of workers. It’s been a week since his apology and 412 days since my first letter on paid sick leave, and what @fordnation came up with is a failure. 1/ #onpoli
In the last week alone, more than 20,000 people have gotten sick and 159 have died while we waited for some form of action. Appalling. 2/
I don’t understand why Doug Ford picked September as an end to this program instead of the end of the pandemic. I also don’t understand how he could think 3 days is enough time, when he himself has been in isolation for more than a week after testing negative. 3/
This morning I called on Doug Ford to appoint a COVID-19 Czar to lead Ontario out of this tragic situation. I recommend Dr. @SteiniBrown or Dr. David Naylor.
There is no time left for Doug Ford’s half-hearted, half-measures. #onpoli 1/
I am also calling on the province to immediately pre-register all Ontarians for a vaccine. This would reassure the millions of people who are still confused about when they’ll be eligible that they are registered and can look forward to an appointment when it is their turn. 2/
Other measures that must be taken today include dramatically increasing vaccine supply for hotspots, redefining “essential workplaces” to limit them to critical components of the food supply chain, and the immediate adoption of paid sick leave for all workers. 3/
Today I called for some meaningful changes to fix Doug Ford’s confusing vaccine rollout.
First, we need a one stop shop for everyone eligible to register for their shot. It’s mind boggling this hasn’t happened yet. 1/ #onpoli#vaccine
Next, the government should be paying to open vaccination clinics for essential workers, instead of asking businesses to foot the bill. This is the responsibility of @fordnation, not business owners. 2/
Last, Doug Ford needs to stop abandoning Scarborough & other hotspots, and start getting the 1.2M doses out of his fridges and into people’s arms. His excuse for hoarding doses is to avoid cancellations- but thousands of appointments were canceled this week. It makes no sense. 3/
