VAMPIRO deriva del alemán "vampir", que a su vez deriva un vocablo muy extendido en los Balcanes y el Este de Europa, en donde se origina la actual imagen que tenemos del VAMPIRO: en serbio-croata вампир o vampir, en checo upír, en polaco wąpierz, en ruso упырь (upyr').
El origen de la palabra es incierto: quizá venga de la raíz turca para bruja (en tártaro "ubyr") o de una raíz protoeslava común como "Ợpir", que haría referencia a los demonios voladores del folklore pagano de los antiguos eslavos.
La construcción de la figura del vampiro en el imaginario actual y su evolución a lo largo de la historia es un proceso muy interesante y lleno de inesperados recovecos. Hágannos saber si les interesaría un hilo respecto a dicho tema.
