Persians might have converted to Islam, but many Iranians have kept a lot of their pre-Islamic #Zoroastrian culture and traditions alive.

I read one such refreshing story today on Quora.

Sharing some details here in the thread below.
1) Iranians were mostly of Zoroastrianism religion before the conquest of Islam. Yes, they are mostly Shia Muslims today, but they know about Zoroastrian Ahura Mazda sacred book, and Rasti - Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds.
Some might be even wearing The #Faravahar pendant. Image
2) Iranians even today celebrate their traditional #Zoroastrian new Year Novruz at Pasargad (Tomb of Cyrus The Great). Keep in mind in 2020, #Novruz was just 5 days before the Hindu Near Year festival of Yugadi! Similar calendars.

Even Persian Tajik women celebrate similarly. ImageImageImage
3) Iranians celebrate Sizdah Bedar also known as Nature's Day, held annually on the thirteenth day of #Farvardin, the first month of the Iranian calendar.

People spend time picnicking outdoors. Another #Zoroastrian cultural continuation of 1000s of years. ImageImage
4) Iranians celebrate Chaharshanbe Suri, a fire purification ritual right from #Zoroastrian times. At sunset, after making bonfires, they jump over the flames, singing sorxi-ye to az man, zardi-ye man az to, meaning your redness mine, my paleness yours!

Sankranti, Bhogi etc.? ImageImage
5) Iranians celebrate #Tirgan, a mid summer ancient Persian festival.

They splash water, dance, colour, recite poetry and serve traditional foods.

Did anyone say Holi hain? 😍 ImageImageImageImage
6) Iranians celebrate #Sepandarmazgan, an ancient day of love festival, which has #Zoroastrian roots dating back to the Achaemenid Empire, the first Persian Empire.

It is like the Iranian version of #ValentinesDay ImageImage
7) Iranians celebrate Shab-e Yalda, a festival celebrated on the longest and darkest night of the year, for winter solstice.

The list is long.. It is very interesting to know how much of their pre Islamic #Zoroastrian culture that Iranians still follow! ImageImageImageImage

1) In US, all you need is about a dozen big states to become the President. Even there, all you need is coming number 1 (usually 50% votes, but rarely less also will do when more than 2 contestants are there).

That means, you need to win half of these 11 states. Read on...
2) You don't need a single vote in the other 39 states (& DC)! Because winner takes it all in 48 states. So technically you can become the President with just 50% (or close) votes of 22% of states!

California 55
Texas 38
FL 29
NY 29
IL 20
PA 20
Ohio 18
GA 16
MI 16
NC 15
NJ 14
..
3) If Electoral College system is applied to India, all you needed was to win half (or come 1st) in these 6 big states. Don't need a single LS seat from other 22 states & 8 UTs! So can become PM by winning 50% (or less) of 16% of States/UTs.

1) Check the five areas which PM @narendramodi highlighted in his #ET interview, as indicators of an Economic revival. His interview is full of facts, figures and optimism. Loved it!

More from his almost three page interview with ET in the following tweets.
2) PM Narendra Modi says: In spite of COVID19 pandemic, India received $35.73 billion FDI between April and August of 2020.

That is 13% higher than the same period in 2019.
#Investment
#Economy
3) Modi also said that between 1947 and 2020 (March), India got only 16,000 ventilators in working condition to hospitals.

Now another 50,000 being added in just a matter of months!

India truly changing in an #AtmaNirbhar way during a global pandemic.

I keep criticizing Communist government in China frequently. But here is a thread on the positive side that Communists have created for China.. well the Capitalistic side of those pretending to be Communists on the economy side.

You will be amazed at how fast China has changed.
1) Cashless society: China uses so less cash today, that pickpockets are unemployed! WeChat Pay & Ali Pay are huge.

WeChat is China's largest messaging service today. Owned by Tencent.

Taobao is the world's largest eCommerce site.

42% of the world's eCommerce happens in China!
2) China has over 1000 no cashier or no employee stores now. Businesses adapted to "contactless" sales, much ahead of Corona Virus era.

See this store in Beijing where you can shop & pay in cashless mode, with NO employee. And it is faster and safer!

Listen to @TVMohandasPai for some incredible numbers, facts and viewpoints about India's higher education system, #NewEducationPolicy, more. I will highlight 7 key points.

1) India has the world's largest higher education system - but quality lacking.

2) Universities have become ivory towers without much industry interaction - research suffering

3) Make children use their hands for life skills! Most can't even assemble a cycle even after 12 years of education.

#NewEducationPolicy2020
4) He stresses the importance of multiple languages in education. Mother tongue, state's language, Hindi, Sanskrit & English.

5) If 100 kids go to school, 80 go to class 10. 55 go to class 12. 26 go to college. GER (enrollment) of women in college is higher than men!

A thread about Zoijila pass:

1) It is a very critical pass in India which connects Kashmir valley to Ladakh. The road is very narrow & extremely steep.

See how our driver was backing car when we had to make way for trucks coming in the opposite direction. Yes, it is dangerous!
2) #Zoijila pass height varies from 10,000 feet to 12,000 feet. Zig zag Himalayan roads and heavy snow area. We saw snow fall even in peak summer there. There are a couple of fun slide mountains too.

For six months this vital road for Indian military, gets closed due to snow. ImageImageImageImage
3) Now @narendramodi govt is building vital infra at #Zojila area.
Section 1: 18.5 km road.
Section 2: 14.15 km Zoijila tunnel in a horseshoe shape.
Total ~33 km vital road between Z-Morh and Zoijila tunnel.

Cost: ₹4,509,50,00,000
Will be Asia's longest bidirectional tunnel!!

Xinjiang province in Communist China (East Turkestan before Communists occupied in 1949) is 1.5 times the size of Pakistan. 12 times bigger than Bangladesh.

It has borders with eight countries including India. Importantly, it has borders with 5 "Islamic countries"!

Still the Muslim community is silent when Communists are committing atrocities over Uighur Muslims. Why?

Listen to this @ZeeNews video. See before & after pictures.

1) China made a cigarette and liquor store over a demolished 16th century mosque.

2) China made a public toilet over a demolished mosque.

3) China making an underwear factory over a demolished mosque.
