It’s ok to teach your daughters to be chaste, teach your sons too.

‘Sexual purity’ is not for a particular gender.

“Obi, No go give woman belle o👂🏼”, is not sex education.

Who will Obi sleep with? If she says no?
Sex Ed, is balanced, lays out options and gives room for choice.
I acknowledge that many persons have different moral and religious codes.

If yours is sexual purity... please teach across gender. Boys growing up to think, the only sin/crime is “Do not impregnate”, is lopsided.

It doesn’t teach them consent, justice, respect & responsibility.
Don’t also forget that it is mostly your daughters they will meet if they are heterosexual.
How empowered are our daughters to refuse them? If they don’t fall to their sweet words, they may fall to their fists.

Teach them to respect girls and to seek consent. Teach girls same.
If religious, teach them that sexual purity is to strengthen THEIR relationship with God and not to strengthen relationship with man/woman.

Asides being the fact, this also builds their self love & esteem.
They don’t live to impress others.
Virginity is a choice not a prize
Same way “Body count” is not a prize.

That way also, if/when they make mistakes as humans that they are, they know it is their God (who is all forgiving), that they have a matter to settle with.

Not having to prove evidence of virginity to one who might be twice as ‘tainted’.
Girls need to grow up too knowing that they are sexual beings, can have urges and can make choices.

They shouldn’t be made to feel that they were just created to satisfy some man who has had his fair share of Arabanko (maybe with a spice of STIs) and is looking to ‘Settle Down’.
Virginity is a choice, not a prize.

Teach them to be responsible for their own choices.
Whether for personal, moral, religious reasons... they owe any explanation to themselves and their God. Not man or woman.

Lay out the options, Good and bad, explain consequences...
Let them make a choice... and when they do. It’s your duty as parents to be there to guide them, pray for and with them.

Young parents, start early. Give age appropriate sex education to children. You’ll see, they’ll make better choices than most of us did. Cos they have YOU!
