Just had a renewal quote from @DirectLine - monthly premium up from £56 to £120. £120! Per month! For 1 dog! Same happened 2 yrs ago with @MORETHAN.

I'm paying extra so that a single condition can be covered beyond 1 calendar year. But by making insurance UNAFFORDABLE after 1 year, insurance companies are making sure that you cancel & switch, effectively making this specific condition of the insurance unusable! @MartinSLewis
There is therefore no point in paying the extra amount for multi-annual cover. Plus, because you're forced to switch companies, any conditions that have occurred in the previous year then become a pre-existing condition, which is not covered anymore by a new policy! #insurance
The system does not work for the consumer! If you choose to stay, you are forced to pay extortionate costs. If you choose to switch, you lose quality of cover & pay for features that won't ever exist past year 1. I haven't seen this happen with other insurance (car, travel etc).
