This is what gender identity activists have in store for everyone: thousands of dollars in fines for publicly disagreeing with them, or saying that you don’t like them. There are similar stories from Canada and the UK, where they also lack free speech.

Left-leaning people seemed to be asleep when a Canadian Christian was fined $55,000 for the made-up crime of “misgendering,” lulled into ignoring the erosion of free speech because of animus towards the victim of this persecution.

In the UK, Kate Scottow was arrested in front of her children, and fined £1,000 for “misgendering.”

We’ve compared these laws against offending trans-identified people to lèse-majesté laws, like they have in Thailand, a place where ordinary people are afraid to criticize or insult the royal family even in secret Facebook groups. Sound familiar?

washingtonpost.com/world/2019/02/…
It says in that article, that, “In Thailand, the royal family is held in high regard,” but ... how would you know? It’s illegal to say otherwise. The law itself is a moral indictment of the people it’s meant to protect.

washingtonpost.com/world/2019/02/…
Far from inventing something new, gender identity activists are demanding that the prerogatives of royalty and autocrats be settled on them as individual citizens, so that they can prosecute perceived insult and disagreement amongst their peers.

osac.gov/Content/Report…
Lèse-majesté laws originated with the high self-regard of Roman emperors, and they probably made sense to people who had that high a likelihood of coming to a sticky, early end, as a measure against murder and civil chaos.

books.google.com/books?id=5PwrA…
Rules against offending someone else’s self-regard have always been used tyrannically, from the very beginning. But making “gender identity” protected in law, protecting a falsehood as a civil right, gives every person who claims that falsehood the powers of a petty tyrant.
It took almost no time at all for protecting gender identity falsehoods in law, in a country with limited free speech rights, to turn into blatant extortion and grift.
nationalpost.com/news/trans-act…
If you’re helping entrench pronoun honorifics, putting “gender identity” into law, or aiding the fiction that the term “transgender people” defines a consistently identifiable class of person, you’re helping along this tyranny, this extortionate compulsion of speech.
Criticize gender identity laws while you can, as loudly as you can, because they’d rather you couldn’t.

They are trying to steal all of our speech rights.

Don’t let it happen without a fight. Don’t give our rights away with a smile.

The US left has had their LGB and women’s policy groups hijacked by gender identity extremists whose ideas are so unpopular, their leading strategy is to silence critics & prevent any public debate on the effects their proposals have on the well-being of women and children.
It’s been the plan of gender activists in the US all along to act quietly, capture institutional support, silence critics, and spring the results on everyone by surprise, as a done deal.
This governance by surprise is a deliberate tactic of the gender identity movement, internationally, as coordinated by the Dentons law firm, and the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

If you think things are bad now, but not bad enough to actually do anything, wait until this is common all across the US political spectrum, and try to get a more sympathetic hearing then...

Some feminists seem to think that we can let conservatives fight this battle without us, because surely, they’re all against it, and will win eventually, right? Not only does this seem a bit feckless, nothing rules out ending up with all major parties supporting gender identity.
Until quite recently, UK women were in a lockout situation, with all their major parties fully supporting self-ID of sex. That changed, it seems, because women’s rights campaigners and some journalists broke through the propaganda and got a factual discussion started.

Because some US lawmakers have started paying attention to this human rights disaster that’s at last being discussed in the UK, a federal law has finally been proposed to restrain unethical gender identity medical experiments on children.

thepostmillennial.com/lawmakers-push…
We have a crisis here with around 50 pediatric gender clinics, and a growing number of other sexual health clinics, who are sterilizing minors using drugs prescribed to chemically castrate sex offenders. There never has to be a surgery to destroy a child’s reproductive potential.
No one on the US left will help us with this at all. No one. We’ve talked all up and down, we’ve talked to left-leaning women all over the country shut down over this, we’ve cumulatively talked to a lot of people in government and civil society about our grave concerns. No help.

While we are on more comfortable footing criticizing the men who promote harmful gender identity policies and medical experiments, it’s also true that a lot of women are enthusiastically promoting these harms. No matter how sympathetic we may be to their circumstances ...
... Grown women who sign up to promote self-harm to other women, or destroy the rights of other women, or mock other women as irrational for being concerned about male violence, bear some responsibility for these actions. They’re not all being held ransom and forced to clap.
Grown women who enforce the ‘be nice’ ethic, based on female socialization to defer, to ostracize other women who won’t use honorific pronouns, have responsibility for this behavior. It’s one thing to make your own choice in this, and another to join the brute squad enforcing it.

It’d be interesting if any of the people telling us that we shouldn’t worry about “transgender status” being added to civil rights law could tell us what “transgender status” means.
For instance, “woman,” means, “adult human female.” This term is useful because it refers to a distinct class of beings, and the definition doesn’t include the term to be defined, that is, it isn’t circular or meaningless.
The Supreme Court didn’t define “transgender status” in the Bostock decision, which was the majority’s claim regarding the grounds on which Bostock was decided, a claim not agreed to by the employer, Harris Funeral Homes.

WHY THE HARRIS SUPREME COURT DECISION IS NOT A WIN FOR WOMEN, NOR IS IT NARROW: We've seen people celebrating the Stephens v. Harris SC opinion (sub nom Bostock), asserting it was decided on narrow grounds and preserved the biological meaning of sex. Here’s why we disagree. 1/
We stated in our brief in Harris and elsewhere that discrimination based on homosexuality is discrim. based on sex. This thread is primarily about our opposition to “transgender status” established in Harris, and we refer to the decision as “Harris” to make that distinction. 2/
THE COURT’S REASONING ON TRANS IS EXTREMELY BROAD AND VAGUE: “[I]t is impossible to discriminate against a person for being... or transgender without discriminating against that individual based on sex.” To characterize this as limited is more aspirational than it is rational. 3/
