US Treasury sanctioned Derkach for colluding with Giuliani: "From at least late 2019 through mid-2020, Derkach waged a covert influence campaign centered on cultivating false and unsubstantiated narratives concerning U.S. officials in the upcoming 2020 Presidential Election...
spurring corruption investigations in both Ukraine and the United States designed to culminate prior to election day. Derkach’s unsubstantiated narratives were pushed in Western media through coverage of press conferences and other news events..."
home.treasury.gov/news/press-rel…
"Between May and July 2020, Derkach released edited audio tapes and other unsupported information with the intent to discredit U.S. officials, and he levied unsubstantiated allegations against U.S. and international political figures."
"Derkach almost certainly targeted the U.S. voting populace, prominent U.S. persons, and members of the U.S. government, based on his reliance on U.S. platforms, English-language documents and videos, and pro-Russian lobbyists in the United States used to propagate his claims."

Why Putin should not & is not likely to intervene militarily in Belarus in support of Lukashenko:
1. Putin really can't stand Lukashenko & he is very emotional.
2. Lukashenko appears to have no popular support (unlike Yaunukovych who had 40% of Ukrainians behind him).
3. Given that the Belarusian Deputy Minister of Interior apologized for violence yesterday, Lukashenko probably no longer controls a significant number of siloviki.
4. A Russian military intervention in Belarus would probably be bloody & certainly cost Russia too much.
5. The Belarusian opposition is against Lukashenko, not Russia. The Kremlin may be able to live with that.
6. Putin's regime is very able to infiltrate & manipulate, which costs much less than military intervention. Why be too blatant?

Bolton's book is really an extraordinary read - precise & candid. The penultimate chapter of 34 pages is on Ukraine, mentioned 270 times. It is clearer than ever than Trump is actually focused & completely hostile on Ukraine, siding with Putin & Russia at every turn.
2. Bolton presents Trump & Giuliani as obvious criminals. He quotes Pompeo saying that Ambassador Yovanovitch "was trying to reduce in corruption in Ukraine and may well have ben going after some of Giuliani's clients." He describes Giuliani's ideas as "fantasies."
3. Bolton clarifies that Trump listened only to Giuliani on Ukraine. He describes Trump's actions: "The pattern looked like obstruction of justice as a way of life."
His book reinforces the impression of Giuliani as a Russian agent.

Today, Washington is facing serious demonstrations under the slogans “no peace without justice” and “black lives matter.” It is important to understand what is really in play. Arguably, the United States is in its worst constitutional crisis since the Civil War.
1. My view is that the US is in a pre-coup situation. Trump is now trying to scramble to find loyal commanders & troops, after having lost the Pentagon & the national guard. We know he has the prison guards & the border & customs guards, which is not much. He needs more.
2. Logically, the Trump campaign is now being transformed into the "Trump Army" with cameo maga hats. Clearly, Trump wants to mobilize his base, white supremacists & the NRA to come to his armed support with their legal assault rifles.

Was June 3, 2020, the day when Donald Trump lost command over the federal troops? Defense Secretary Esper’s press conference at the Pentagon’s makes it look like that.
Clearly Trump is now scrambling for loyal troops as is usually the case in a pre-coup situation. Who are the loyal commanders with loyal troops? The revelation that the White House is protected by Texas prison guards because they can be commanded by Barr suggest low down the line
Another indication is that troops of some 15 kinds have been gathered, but the most prestigious are being held back by the president in apparent fear that they will choose the constitution over him.

"It is one thing to be powerless in the face of a natural disaster, quite another to watch vast power being squandered in real time – wilfully, malevolently, vindictively."

"It is one thing for governments to fail (as, in one degree or another, most governments did), quite another to watch a ruler and his supporters actively spread a deadly virus. Trump, his party and Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News became vectors of the pestilence."
"The grotesque spectacle of the president openly inciting people (some of them armed) to take to the streets to oppose the restrictions that save lives is the manifestation of a political death wish."

Today @washingtonpost's investigative journalists skewer Kushner coronavirus effort said to be hampered by inexperienced volunteers. Pretty devastating.
washingtonpost.com/politics/kushn…
"the team responsible for PPE had little success in helping the government secure such equipment, in part because none of the team members had significant experience in health care, procurement or supply-chain operations. In addition...
...none of the volunteers had relationships with manufacturers or a clear understanding of customs requirements or Food and Drug Administration rules"
