today is the 19th anniversary of 9/11, and so also of the entire professional media class losing their minds over chomsky telling some plain truths about it
more of chomsky exposing the grotesque hypocrisies and warmongering derangement of the professional media and intellectual class in the wake of 9/11: "everyone's worried about stopping terrorism, well there's a really easy way: stop participating in it"
remember the atmosphere at the time: any deviance from the "war on terror" hysteria was perceived as "siding with the terrorists" by the professional media class. it was total uniformity of thought. so watching chomsky do this was a rare moment of sanity:

this sums up the professional media and intellectual class perfectly, and explains why you're seeing the same hacks, liberal and conservative, who fanatically cheered on the "war on terror" hysteria, now desperately trying to re-write that history to absolve themselves from blame
one of these grotesque depraved ghouls, who has now rebranded himself as a brave free speech warrior, is andrew sullivan. see this thread for the kind of sicko shit he was doing back in the heyday of the "war on terror" hysteria

for the first 9/11 that no one in the professional media and intellectual class talks about see this thread

the deranged hysteria over that "cuties" movie is exactly the kind of puritanical moralism the anti-"woke" liberal crowd was rage-whining about just recently, but since it's mostly emanating from the right and their favs like tulsi they're happily silent about it now. pathetic
to be clear, netflix's decision to advertise it as some kind of soft erotica was grotesque, and likely informed by their desire for rage-clicks. but to describe that film as "child porn", as tulsi has, is fucking deranged. here's a good review rollingstone.com/movies/movie-r…
the irony is the film is a critique of hyper-sexualizing young girls, and also the strict, conservative atmosphere of some religious households. given my background it hit close to home. it's a very real tension, and the film argues for a healthy resolution of it

if liberalism was an actual principled, serious political position it would be possible to deal w/ them by agreeing to only "fight" in primaries/internal elections, then unite in general elections. but it's a ruling class ideology that will stab even moderate soc-dems in the back
they have no principles, no underlying ideological commitments: they're purely motivated by narcissism and resentment, and will always prefer the far right take power than even a moderate left-winger. corbyn and bernie proved this beyond all doubt. fishhook theory is Science
I wrote a bit more about this in this thread

it's fred hampton's birthday. a revolutionary leader of the black panthers, he was assassinated at age 21 by cops in coordination with the FBI as part of its murderous COINTELPRO subversion program. today perhaps more than ever we need to heed his words:

also instructive to know how they got to him: the FBI bribed someone to give them critical information used to plan the assassination. local cops then burst into his house, and as hampton lay sleeping next to his pregnant gf killed him w/ a hail of bullets
what is not mentioned in that clip is that the FBI rat did not just provide them with critical information, he also drugged hampton and others in the house in preparation for the raid (h/t @moose_ul_man)

"white privilege" doesn't quite capture the symbiotic relationship between state forces and far right militias: it's *right-wing* white privilege that allows a 17 y/o to murder leftists, pass by cops, and drive back to his home state. or aim assault rifles at feds and live
look at the contrast in how state forces responded to white right-wing protesters versus leftists in the same state
that's partly bc the boundaries between them are porous: white nationalists, nazis, KKK sympathizers, Q-anon nuts, name the far right scum and police, FBI, ICE and CIA are littered w/ them. that's the people they draw in naturally, and they flourish in that institutional habitat

sorry this isn't endearing and cute to me, it's grotesque. bernie sitting alongside all the people who one after the other knifed him, and by extension the social movement he was the figurehead of, in the back. the consequences will be felt for generations
the entire primary was a fucking charade. all these hucksters ran bullshit campaigns knowing full well they'd coalesce around the anyone but bernie option as soon as they were ordered to by obama and the dem establishment, and that's exactly what they all did. vomitous ghouls
they were publicly plotting to steal the nomination from him even if he ended up with the plurality of delegates ffs

since ayn rand is trending here's marxian economist sam bowles totally destroying milton friedman and by proxy rand, as he's one of her ideological proteges and founding fathers of neoliberal economics

bowles goes on to further expose ayn rand and milton friedman's absurd idealistic view of capitalism, then lays out his conception of an economic system that is truly in line with expanding freedom: one wherein the means of production are owned by workers

also keep in mind bowles is using the term "private property" in the non-marxist sense of personal property, probably because he's talking to a lay audience. as he says later his preferred economic model is one wherein the means of production are worker owned and controlled
