This was done to a Black supporter of @sarah2020 today. Just unacceptable. If you want to do a protest vote that's fine but stop stealing from our BIPOC supporters, donors, volunteers, and staff.
Also, it is ironic becuase Sarah's platform called for defunding before it was a buzz word and was the only one in the primary to do so.
I have nothing negative ever to say about their preferred candidate. Also, it is unclear if they are involved. She does great work, I have nothing but respect, and will never say a bad word. I obviously will say that a write-in effort only serves Ted Wheeler but they know that.
I also disagree with her on many policies especially housing and climate. I disagree with supporting Republicans or Conservatives against progressives. But these are political differences that don't need to be made to be something more.
I will never lose my respect for someone's work because I disagree with someone's policy. But I cannot respect theft from indigenous and Black Portlanders. Or disrespect for the thousands of BIPOC supporters Sarah has gained and will never tokenize.
Yesterday a Black woman came to the office to pick up dozens of signs by bike and delivered to many BIPOC neighbors. It just breaks my heart to think she put in all that hard work, paid for by the people, just for some white kid to tell them what to do.
These white people are not "woke" for trying to convince Black people to throw away their vote. I know some people are privileged enough to cast a protest vote but don't project that unto others.
Our campaign is funded by small donors. We buy our signs exclusively from union shops. We run a lean campaign and this does hurt our ability to get the word out. We spend our campaign funds in our community, not on airbnb. You're being a shitty neighbor while the city is on fire.
Anyways, people have asked why I have been so silent about it. It's because I have always been committed to never using my platform to harm any Black activists. The whites do that enough. But I have to step up for my BIPOC staff, volunteers, supporters, and donors. I have to.
Lastly, tokenizing, virtue signaling and white guilt are not anti-racist actions. Stop ascribing policies to Black people to make yourself feel good that they haven't said. Stop using your support of throwing away your vote as evidence you aren't racist. You are racist.
Oh and electorally from a political science perspective. They picked the wrong target if this was about winning. But I sense it isn't about winning. I just want white people who think this shit is okay to look inside and see what you are actually doing and who it helps.
K this will be the last time I talk about this. It's been months with no comment from me cuz of my respect for her. But I am the head of this campaign. I'm the boss. I have to have my people's back. We have an incredibly diverse staff and of course diverse supporters.

It is beyond me how any person could think that this man who is senselessly beating those he is sworn to protect and serve should also be who we send to those in a mental health crisis, domestic violence situations, sexual assaults, or even a traffic violation.
It is no wonder why so many people want to defund the police. Because even if a person thinks there is a reasonable purpose for policing, it is hard for anyone to believe it should be men like this who could be fulfilling that purpose. Yet this is who they are.
When not one person, including this mans boss, believes there will be any accountability for these actions; it is no wonder that many in our society do not trust this institution to do anything of value.

Hey ya'll, I do not ask you for much but please consider giving to this cause. As you know, my wife was hospitalized due to complications after the protest munitions. We are still recovering. The heroes who protected us that night need your help. (thread) gofundme.com/f/protective-g…
A few days ago I attended the Portland Protests I did so with what I thought was full protective gear. I quickly ran into members of the Radical Justice Party who informed me that despite my gear being expensive, it would not fully protect me.
They lamented that their gear also was leaving them exposed but they were committed to doing everything they could do at the protests. I asked if I could stay with them during the protest and they said yes.

Thread time. This one is important but complex, bare with me. I swear this is good info if you are a protester, live in Portland, or just want to resist Trump.

As many of you know I work in politics. This is why I know why Portland Police is live streaming lately.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist and this isn't a conspiracy. It is how this works. So first, it is important to note that this filming is illegal under Oregon law. However, I'm not going to waste time pretending @PortlandPolice or Mayor @tedwheeler care. oregonlaws.org/ors/181A.250
One small purpose of these streams is to try and turn the public against the protesters. They think if protesters appear as fringe actors, the public will support a violent crackdown. However, they never film the violent crackdown. They turn it off then. reddit.com/r/Portland/com…

My next door neighbor is elderly. He just flagged us down because he is sicker than he has ever been. He has no toilet paper or food. He looked like death and was crying. He can’t go to the doctor because his fever isn’t high enough. Although it is high.
He said he didn’t want to knock on our door cuz we have kids. We just moved so he didn’t have our number. He waited till he could catch us outside so now we are going to the store for him.
Moral of the story is check on your neighbors. Exchange numbers. We need community right now. Lots of Americans have never talked to their neighbors. It’s time to get rid of our rugged individualism even while we practice social distancing.

At the first protest I ever held a young anarchist came up to me and offered to be my security. He stuck by my side for a week, never leaving the protest. When PPB beat my partner at another protest, he was the only participant who came to the hospital. He was murdered yesterday.
We don’t know everything but he was run down outside of cider riot, a frequent hang out spot for antifascists and a previous target of right wing violence. I am deeply saddened. It’s a loss for our entire community.
He showed up. For everything. For everyone. From occupy to BLM. I had him on my show on @KBOO once, I’ll see if I can find the interview. This hurts.

@tedwheeler began his campaign today by soliciting illegal donations. In 2018 measure 26-200 was passed by Portland voters with 88% of the vote and limits contributions to $500 dollars. His website is soliciting illegal donations as I type this. portlandoregon.gov/auditor/articl…
So there are a couple options here:
1. Wheeler is unaware of the law (incompetent).
2. Wheeler is assuming everyone is unaware of the law (arrogant).
3. Wheeler does not care what his voters want and is hoping the supreme court overturns the measure (undeserving of your vote).
This comes from a mayor who has been funded by Pepsi, Nike, McDonald's, and Gordon frickin' Sondland. We have just begun the scandal over Sondland's massive (now illegal) donations to Wheeler and he begins his campaign with this?
